Hello Everyone, Just want to first introduce myself, Donna Brown, I am the new interim Business Manager in Birck Nanotechnology Center. I am excited to be here and look forward to getting to know each of you. I know that Concur is a new travel system and some of you may have questions or concerns. We have completely transitioned from our old paper system, everyone should be using Concur for travel. If you need additional support I just want to make sure that you know that there are resources available. Please work with the secretaries, they are truly our resident experts on helping you with booking your travel and completing your expense report once you return from your trip. I also want to let everyone know that we do have staff members who are Subject Matter Experts here in Discovery Park. The secretaries can work through them to handle any complications or new questions they may have. Joanna Business@Purdue News<http://www.purdue.edu/business/bpnews/> Released: September 13, 2013 BUSINESS UPDATE Training and training resources announced for Procurement's coming Ariba P2P launch The buildup to the Oct. 14 launch of the new Ariba P2P procurement system -- a major step in the Procurement Process Transformation -- has reached the stage of full-scale training via both instructor-led training and computer-based resources. Courses with instruction by University procurement subject matter experts have been developed for both system-wide users and for some specific departments. Dates for upcoming instructor-led training can be found on the PREMIS registration site. Revised deadlines for the steps in the cutover from the SRM system also have been announced. COMPUTER-BASED RESOURCES A number of online resources are available for those individuals who prefer not to take the live training. Quick Reference Cards and recorded simulations are on the Business@Purdue site under Procurement-->Ariba<https://spa.itap.purdue.edu/Business/businessatpurdue/Pages/ariba.aspx>. INSTRUCTOR-LED TRAINING The following courses are offered multiple times starting as early as Sept. 26, and dates and locations are listed at the links. For all of these courses, the roles mentioned, as defined currently in SRM, will transfer directly to Ariba. P2P 150 - Receiving in Ariba Audience: Receivers. Description: This 90-minute class will have 60 minutes of lecture/demonstration on receiving and 30 minutes reserved for Q&A. The cleanroom will now have a daily rate of $40/user, capped at a maximum 8 days per calendar month. If a user continues using the cleanroom beyond 8 days within a month then they will be only charged $320 for the entire month. This rate structure was mentioned by Prof. Shakouri several months ago in a faculty meeting, and now costing has approved the package. Our intent with this new rate structure is to promote short-term/daily use of the cleanroom without a monthly rate penalty. Please let me know if you have any questions. Campus has reported a number of thefts on campus and the one way you can stop thieves is to lock your doors. We are seeing a number of doors in Birck being left unlocked overnight. Air handling systems, exhaust systems, toxic gas delivery, and monitoring systems will be down beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, October 7 through 4 p.m. Friday, October 11. The BNC staff will be performing appropriate preventive maintenance on the process equipment at this time as well. All CLEANROOM research work will be suspended until the maintenance activities are completed and all systems are returned to normal. No one will be allowed to enter the cleanroom during this time period. In addition, the laboratory areas will also be affected by this systems maintenance. As such, all LABORATORY activities that involve exhausted hoods, vacuum systems, and/or toxic gas systems will be down beginning 9 a.m. Monday, October 7 through 4 p.m. Friday, October 11. However, work that involves taking standard electrical measurements may be carried out in the LABS provided that fluctuating air temperature and humidity do not affect the readings. No chemical work will be allowed during this period. It is anticipated that the building and process tool maintenance will be completed by the end of the day on Friday, October 11. Please check Coral for equipment status and availability. Due to the new lab expansion projects electrical outages are required that will mainly affect the office areas. We will send out a notice with a date and time of the power outage when we have more detailed information from Physical Facilities.
