Update Tuesday Morning of Campus Chiller Issue

Dear Birck Users, As of this morning the campus chilled water issue has been resolved and our building is receiving normal cooling water, so the Birck air conditioning and humidity are back to normal. The one exception is for the west lab wing....Air Handler #1 has a leak in the water pump so AH1 is down for repair. The pump seals are being rebuilt, but until the system is repaired and brought back online the humidity and temperature control in the west lab wing will fluctuate. If it progresses from there we will take the tour aisle down, keeping the cleanroom stable as long as possible.) Our building personnel will continue to monitor this situation and keep us informed. Dear Birck Users, Wade Power Plant has lost two of four chillers so at this point chilled water to Birck is compromised. Humidity control and equipment cooling water will be affected which could lead to future process issues and equipment cooling issues. The physical facilities organization is aware and they're monitoring the situation. BNCWiki will temporarily require on campus or VPN access for the next week

Greetings BNC users, ITAP has been informed of a critical security vulnerability with Confluence, the platform used by BNCWiki<https://wiki.itap.purdue.edu/display/BNCWiki>. In response, ITAP is disabling Confluence external access until next Saturday (6/11) at 6 PM ET when a patch is planned to be installed. Until then, to access BNCWiki (or other Purdue Confluence spaces), you will need to be either on a Purdue campus network or connected to a Purdue VPN. More information on using a Purdue VPN can be found here: https://www.itap.purdue.edu/connections/vpn/. Using Cisco AnyConnect (from either a PC or mobile device) you can connect to VPN server name "webvpn2.purdue.edu" and login with your BoilerKey credentials. Additionally, Confluence will be temporarily unavailable today from 5:15 - 5:30 PM and next Saturday (6/11) at 6 PM when the patch is applied. Birck Sputtering Systems

Message from Dave Lubelski and Dan Witter: All sputtering system users, Due to supply chain issues and lack of the ability to secure parts and repair items, we are changing our use structure on Monday June 6th to the following. All depositions needed for the immediate future will be performed by either Dan Witter or Dave Lubelski. Please let both Dan and Dave know the materials and thicknesses that you need sputtered, along when your sample will be ready for deposition and we will take care of the deposition for you. We will make the reservation and load/deposit and let you know when the samples are finished. Hopefully, this will be a short term change. This is necessary as we have run out of parts for repairs and new parts are 12-40 week lead times. Depositions will be performed Monday - Friday between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:00 pm.
