*Update* Please try your best to have this completed by Jan 29th, 2026! As in prior years, the Birck ID card system is coded to drop everyone's swipe access on January 31st; Birck staff have to access the system and reset every ID card manually, one at a time (~1000+ accounts!), as the training is completed. Accounts that have completed the training before the Jan. 31st cutoff/drop date can be recoded for 2026-2027 access without interruption but if your refresher training is not completed you will need to email Michelle Radtke<mailto:mlradtke@purdue.edu> after January 31st to request your access be reset. Depending on the volume of reset requests, you may experience some delay with lab/cleanroom access. The hard cutoff for the shorter 25-question quiz is still February 16thas stated below. Please email me if you have questions or need further clarification. Greetings all, It's that time of year again! In order to maintain access to Birck, all BNC Cleanroom and Laboratory users including Faculty, Staff, Scientists, Researchers, and Students must obtain this year's annual safety training refresher badge. If you've received the BNC 111 Orientation & Safety training after Dec. 1st, 2025, you are exempt for this requirement until next year. BNC users must obtain this badge by 11:59:59 PM Monday, February 16th, or BNC cleanroom and lab access will be revoked. We will continue to use Brightspace for this training, so it should be familiar if you've taken Birck training in the last year. To begin earning the badge, navigate to the following link and click the "Add to Cart" button: http://www.training.purdue.edu/BNC151 1. NOTE: It kind of looks like this will have a cost associated with it when registering. There is no cost and it will just be a 0$ transaction when completing the registration. 2. Proceed to checkout. 3. Log in with your Purdue credentials. 4. Complete the checkout process. 5. Login with your Purdue ID and BoilerKey (if not already logged in) 7. Click on the 'content' button to begin completing the coursework. To reiterate the requirements listed on the badge page, obtaining the badge requires: 1. A review of the BNC 151 - 2026<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpurdue.br…> training slides and the Chemical Hygiene Plan<https://www.purdue.edu/ehps/rem/documents/programs/chp2014.pdf>. This will take some time (especially the CHP) so make sure you plan to dedicate a few hours to this. 2. Passing a 25-question quiz on content from the training materials from step 1. An 80% or better is required to pass. The quiz may be retaken once, if needed. You may refer to the training materials during the quiz. Please note: * If you fail to obtain an 80% after a second attempt on the quiz, your submission must be manually reset. Email Christian Bokrand (cbokrand(a)purdue.edu<mailto:cbokrand@purdue.edu>) with the subject line "BNC 151 Quiz Reset" to setup a meeting to discuss any points of confusion and reset your submission. * BNC laboratory access (to any/all of the dry, solvent, acid, bio, or cleanroom laboratories) will be revoked if not completed by 11:59:59 PM on Monday, February 16th. * If not completed by the deadline, users wishing to regain BNC laboratory access will need to: o Complete a more extensive version of the badge (50 questions >=90% to pass instead of 25 questions >=80%) o Have their PI sign-off on the training o Wait for the Friday after their badge is completed for access to be re-instated.
