He also holds a chief scientist position in Heeger Beijing R & D center. Prior that, he was a manager of CBRITE Inc. and senior research scientist in the Center of Polymers and Organic Solids at University of California Santa Barbara. Dr. Gong received B. Sc. major in Chemistry, M. Sc. Major in Chemistry and Ph. D. major in Physics from China. He did post-doc with Professor Alan Heeger, a Nobel Prize Laureate<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nobel_Prize_laureate>, in the Center of Polymers and Organic Solids at University of California Santa Barbara. Gong received many international and national awards and honors including named the top 1% mostly cited researchers in the years of 2014, 2015 and 2016, the world's most influential scientific minds 2014, National Science Foundation (NSF) Career award (2014) and NSF of China oversea outstanding Chinese youngest scientist award (2008). He has accomplished over 180 articles published in the peer reviewed journals, with a peer citation over 18,000 times. He earned an H-index of 52. He also contributed 35 granted/pending patents and 9 book chapters. ******* ******* "High Performance Solution-Processed Photovoltaics via Device Engineering and Novel Materials" Tuesday, October 17, 2017 3:00 p.m. - 4:15 p.m. FRNY G140 - Reception at 2:30 p.m. in Henson Atrium - Abstract: Solution-processed solar cells for efficiently and economically harnessing the solar energy, and solution-processed uncooled broadband photodetectors for applications in remote sensing, fiber-optic communication, day/night-time surveillance, and emerging medical imaging modalities, have invoked extraordinary attentions in both academic and industrial sectors in the past years. In this presentation, I would like to share with you how we approach high-performance solution-processed photovoltaics (solar cells and photodetectors). - In order to facilitate electron extraction efficiency and make it comparable to the hole extraction efficiency in the solution-processed perovskite solar cells, we, for the first time, have demonstrated bulk heterojuncion perovskite solar cells with enhanced efficiency and less photo-hysteresis; - In order to balance charge transporting properties, eliminate toxic lead and enhance efficiency and stability of perovskite solar cells, we have developed novel perovskite materials incorporated with transition metals for tune its physical properties. Safety awareness session - October 11

Hello Everyone, The next safety awareness training sessions is scheduled for Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 9:30-10:30 am in FRNY 1142. All new employees and researchers need to have this initial safety training. If you have new people joining your groups for research, they will need safety training before they start working (e.g. visitors, exchange students, post-docs, etc.). Please ask them to attend this session. Most of our undergraduate students already have the initial training, and would need to take the online refresher. Missing Label Maker

Purdue emergency notification system - testing today

Good morning, This is a reminder that Purdue University will test its emergency notification system, including sirens, at 10 a.m. today, Thursday (Sept. 28). The alert system includes campus-wide emailing, text messaging, Twitter, information posted to the Campus Status page, All Hazards Outdoor Siren activation, Alertus beacons installed in large classrooms, desktop popup alerts on most classroom and lab computers, approximately 185 digital signs, and Boiler TV emergency alert system activation. The alert posted to the Campus Status page will state: "This is the semi-annual TEST of the Purdue emergency warning notification system. This test simulates a level 1 incident. No action is necessary." Winterization 2017

I have attached a google doc for anyone to sign up if you are interested. If you are unaware of the Winterization event, this is an event organized each year to help elderly and disable citizens of our community prepare for the winter weather by raking leaves and clearing yards. It is a really rewarding event that is really appreciated by all those that are helped each year. In order to make sure we have cars that are all Chemical Engineering we will fill out this google doc before we officially register with the Winterization organizers. There are two tabs for the two waves of times so make sure you sign up on the correct one, note the times on each tab.
