RightCycle - first shipment net weight and winner of lawn chair

Hello everyone, Last month on September 16 we shipped our first RightCycle gaylord full of safety gloves collected in our labs since we joined the program on October 25, 2023. With this shipment we diverted an impressive 642 pounds of safety gloves from landfill! Thank you to all researchers who contributed to this achievement! During the "Fit&Fill for safety gloves" event on September 4 we had the full gaylord on display in the atrium and participants were encouraged to guess the total net weight of the gloves for a chance to win a lawn chair made of plastic form recycled gloves, provided by Ansell for this activity. I am happy to announce that the winner of the chair is Neresh Dhanwani, whose guess of 700 pounds is the closest to the actual weight (642 pounds). Congratulations, Naresh! Thank you all for your efforts in increasing sustainability in our labs! ChESS Seminar on laboratory safety - October 17

This message is sent on behalf of Wei-Ling Huang, GSO Safety Chair Hi everyone, Chemical Engineers for Safety Seminars (ChESS) is hosting a seminar on lab safety next Thursday, October 17 from 12:30 - 1:30 pm in FRNY 3059. Please note that this seminar can be counted as one graduate seminar credit and pizza and water/soda will be provided. The presenter is Mr. Wesley White, MS, from Evonik Tippecanoe Labs and the title is "Hazards in the Lab are Present, Persistent, and Powerful! Is Your Safety Culture?". During this interactive session the speaker will be sharing observations about lab safety in the chemical industry and we'll compare and contrast safety culture challenges between academic and industrial labs.
