ISP Recertification of our School

Hello Everyone, I am pleased to let you know that following the Integrated Safety Plan (ISP) recertification meeting with REM representatives on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, followed by safety inspection of selected ChE labs and corrections of identified deficiencies, our School was ISP recertified for another year. The official recertification document was signed on August 23, 2018, and made available to me today. Thank you for your efforts in making this possible and for your sustained commitment to safety! some changes to School operations

Dear Faculty and Staff: We are pleased to announce the creation of a new position in our School: Operations Coordinator. This position will provide direct support to the Executive Officer (X.O., aka Associate Head), helping to manage various support operations of the main office. In addition, this position includes the supervision of three clerical staff. I am also pleased to announce that Joshua Gonzalez has accepted the role of Operations Coordinator, with today being his first day in this new position. For now, many procedures will remain as is, though additional changes may be arising in the future. But starting today, any requests for office space for postdocs, visitors, etc. should be sent via email to Joshua (and cc'ed to the X.O. as well). This new position also allows us to expand Betty Guerrero's range of responsibilities. Betty will continue in her role as School's chief administrative officer (Academic Administrator) working closely with the Head and X.O., with additional and new responsibilities for managing the school's portfolio of deliberate innovation projects in the formative stages. In the spirit of the partnership principles as discussed at the faculty retreat, Betty will continue to proactively manage the time and efforts of the Head to insure that the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering achieves the desired outcomes for faculty success. OSHA Inspections

BE ADVISED - REM will begin conducting the OSHA inspection of our building tomorrow morning. Please check to make sure all offices and labs are compliant and in order and any violations the ChE Safety Committee has brought to your attention have been corrected. Updated door postings, open or unlabeled containers, SOP for accessing chemicals or other items above eye level, fire doors propped open (remove all wooden/rubber doors stops please) are violations that have been cited in the past just to name a few.
