Safety updates and reminders

Hello everyone, As we finally restart lab-based research operations in FRNY, I wanted to update you on a few important safety points. Safety Training: 1. As I mentioned in my email on Friday, the mandatory Covid-19 On-Site Employee Safety Training developed by REM was recently moved to SuccessFactors. Completion of this training is recorded in SuccessFactors (in "Training History"), and you will not receive an email confirmation upon completion. If you completed the training before June 8th, and logged the completion of this training in the old system (on REM's website), you will need to redo the training in SuccessFactors to count as training; there is a 1 question "verification quiz" at the end of the training in SuccessFactors). The "Covid-19 specific safety protocols for FRNY" document was updated to reflect this change, along with other needed changes (all changes made are highlighted in yellow). 3. The "ChE Safety Training Required for a Safe Return to Forney" on our safety webpage (https://engineering.purdue.edu/ChE/aboutus/safety) was updated to reflect these changes. 4. If you already logged the completion of your "ChE Return to Campus Safety Training" before the Covid-19 On-Site Employee Safety Training was moved to SuccessFactors, you do not need to log it again. 5. Staff members approved to return to the building should complete the Covid-19 On-Site Employee Safety Training in their SuccessFactors and the ChE specific annual safety refresher training relevant to their role. You will also need to log the completion of your training by completing the "Training sign-in sheet<https://purdue.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6hfVnmFl6TtwRJX>". Other important reminders: 1. Please honor your commitment to the Protect Purdue Pledge, practice social distancing and wear a face mask, as directed by the University, at all times in Forney, unless you are alone in an office. It came to my attention recently that some researchers do not follow this safety rule. I wanted to remind you that noncompliance with the University set rules and with the ChE specific safety protocols may result in dismissal from on-site work until social distancing guidelines are lifted. 2. To be effective in reducing the spread of Covid-19, please make sure you wear the face mask/covering correctly, as shown below (visual from CDC): [cid:image001.png@01D64318.916DDA20] 1. At this time you should only come to campus for lab-based research; all other activities that can be performed remotely should continue to be performed remotely until further notice. Your lab has to be in "Green" status, and you have to complete all relevant training before returning to the building for research activities. Update regarding completion of Covid-19 On-Site Employee Safety Training

Hello Everyone, I wanted to let you know that the mandatory Covid-19 On-Site Employee Safety Training developed by REM was recently moved to SuccessFactors on June 8th. If you completed the training before this date and logged the completion of training in the old system (on REM's website), you will need to redo the training in SuccessFactors to count as training (there is a verification quiz at the end of the training in SuccessFactors). If you logged the completion of the "ChE Safety Training Required for a Safe Return to Forney" on the ChE website with this Purdue developed training taken in the old system, you don't have to re-log the training after completion of the training in SuccessFactors; we will accept the old proof of completion as uploaded during the initial logging process. Return to research operations in FRNY - updates and safety training requirements

Hello everyone, I am writing to provide an update regarding the process of safe return to experimental research operations in FRNY and to communicate some new protocols (see attached document) put in place by the ChE Safety Committee to assist with this process and ensure the safety of our ChE community. All research activities that can be performed remotely (e.g.: computational research, data analysis, etc.) will continue this way until further notice. The attached document is also available on our website: https://engineering.purdue.edu/ChE/aboutus/safety, under "Safety Policies Specific to Forney Hall". The building assessment and corrective actions were completed (on our side) last week and documentation was sent to the University. We are still waiting for the hand sanitizer stations to be installed near the doors designated as entrances for the building (the one facing Physics and the one facing Engineering Mall). This is the responsibility of the Physical Facilities and they will install them as soon as the order comes in. The door facing Schleman Hall is designated as exit only at this time. The labs with critical research approved by the University are labeled with a yellow posting and these groups can continue to work in the building without having the Covid-19 Research Space SOP completed at this time (the template is not available yet (check here<https://protect.purdue.edu/research/covid-research-space-safe-operating-pro…> for updates); this will be sent to PIs, who will be invited to complete and submit it for approval). I suggest that each group drafts a CVovid-19 specific internal SOP; this information can be transferred onto the University template when this is sent to PIs. Groups not performing critical research can also start thinking about what information to include in the Research Space SOP, but should not return to campus until their lab is cleared (Research Space SOP was submitted and approved by the University). Shared offices for researchers are considered "research space" and their use will also need to be addressed in the Covid-19 Research Space SOP. To help with addressing this point, the School has set maximum occupancy for each shared office, and notices will be posted this week on each shared office door to indicate this number and also other restrictions on seating (e.g.: not seating at adjacent desks). Safety training: Before returning to FRNY, everyone needs to complete the "ChE Return to Campus Safety Training" consisting of several training modules, and log the completion of their training online. More information in the attached document and on our website: https://engineering.purdue.edu/ChE/aboutus/safety under "ChE Safety Training Required for a Safe Return to Forney" heading. You can start completing the training modules now (and prepare the documents that need to be uploaded), but please only log the completion of your training (by completing the "Training Sign-in Sheet" under the same heading) once you were trained on the Covid-19 Research Space SOP approved by the University, as this is a required training module. ChE staff members will continue working remotely according to the University guidelines. However, before returning to work in the building everyone will need to complete the relevant safety training (applicable modules), and log the completion of training as described above. Please read the attached document and review the updated ChE safety website to learn more about the necessary safety training requirements for a safe return to FRNY.
