Paper disposal and electronics recycling day - Wednesday April 22

Hello everyone, On April 22 we celebrate Earth Day – a day to take action and protect our planet. In celebration of Earth Day, the ChE Sustainability Committee is organizing a paper disposal and electronics recycling day – details below: 🌍 Earth Day Celebration – Paper Disposal and Electronics Recycling Day 🗓 Date: Wednesday, April 22 ⏰ Time: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm 📍 Location: FRNY Atrium We will make available in the atrium a pallet to collect unwanted electronics and a secure bin for disposal of unwanted (confidential) papers. We will also have a “swap table” for small household items in good working condition, such as coffee makers, kettles, microwaves, etc. If you have any of these items in your office and you don’t need them anymore but they could be used by someone else, please place them on the designated table in the atrium - they are for grabs for anyone needing them. This is a great opportunity to clean out your office (and labs) of any unwanted electronics/electrical items such as computers, monitors, etc., and/or paperwork that needs secure disposal. If you have equipment that needs to be disposed of please contact Jason Davenport (jwdavenport(a)purdue.edu<mailto:jwdavenport@purdue.edu>) as disposal of equipment with a Purdue inventory number goes through a special procedure. ChE Safety Committee Openings for Graduate Students

Hello Everyone, Two of the current graduate student members of the ChE safety committee (Marisa Egan and Po-Chun (Casper) Huang) have served for nearly two years on the safety committee. I want to take this opportunity and thank them for all their help and input as committee members; they have been very active and valuable members of our committee. I also want to thank Phin Ariyaphuttarat for his service and contributions; Phin represented the GSO on the safety committee since June 2025. We are looking forward to working with the next GSO safety officer once results of GSO elections are announced. The ChE Safety Committee has now two (2) openings for graduate students, and we invite nominations and/or self-nominations for these positions. We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated, and safety oriented graduate students to join our active safety committee. An ideal candidate is someone who still has to complete about 2-3 years of graduate studies and who performs lab-based research. Typically, graduate students serve on the ChE Safety Committee for a period of two years. We would like the new members to join us this summer (June-July 2026), as trainees, and then with full responsibilities from August 2026. If you know someone who would be a good member of the safety committee, or if you feel this is a good fit for you, please send your nomination or intent to join, and a short supporting statement/justification describing why you or your nominee should be considered for this opening, by email to: Gabriela Nagy: nagyg(a)purdue.edu<mailto:nagyg@purdue.edu>, by the end of day on Friday, May 1st, 2026. FRNY Doors Access Update (April 14–16)

Starting tomorrow, from April 14–16, FRNY door readers will be migrated as part of a campus-wide upgrade. No action is required at this time. Brief intermittent interruptions may occur during the migration window.
