FRNY - Phone Placement

??Colleagues, This is to let you know that you will be receiving your new Cisco Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone the week of June 11th. The phone will then be activated on the same day as the other phones in your building. You will receive a follow-up email the day before your new phone is to be activated. Installation crews will access your work area the week of June 11th to do the initial installation. Your new phone is part of a project to replace Purdue's 20-year-old phone system with modern technology. You will be able to make calls with your new phone after the initial installation the week of June 11th, even before it is fully activated with the rest of the phones in your building. This will allow you to become familiar with it and also to set up your voicemail in advance. It also is a good time to test headsets and other accessories with your new phone. Incoming calls will still be received on your old phone until your new phone is activated. Quick reference materials will be distributed with your new phone and simple training videos are available to assist you in setting it up and becoming familiar with it, including creating new PIN numbers and greetings. You can access these on the project website https://www.itap.purdue.edu/telecommunications/rollout/?<https://www.itap.purdue.edu/telecommunications/rollout/>. The website also includes an up-to-date schedule of planned installation locations and an FAQ about the project. Information is available as well in Purdue's GoldAnswers online knowledgebase. Search for "Cisco VoIP." Headset users: Most wireless headsets should work with your new VoIP phone. Wired headsets may require an adapter cable, if available. The FAQ on the project website has a list of compatible headsets if you need a new one. Once your new phone is fully activated, a member of the phone project team will visit your location to remove your old phone. If you have other accessories such as long handset cables, shoulder rests, or headsets, please move these from your old phone to your new phone. Hello Everyone, Please find attached a summary of the safety incidents and near misses reported to me from March 2018 to date. I hope that sharing this information with you will prevent similar situations from happening in the future. Please continue to report all safety incidents and near misses using the form "Safety Incident/Near Miss Report" posted on our website: https://engineering.purdue.edu/ChE/aboutus/safety under "Workplace Injury Information". As a reminder, when someone is injured during a safety incident, even if the injury does not require medical attention, this still needs to be reported to REM, using the First Report of Injury (FROI) form: https://www.purdue.edu/ehps/rem/documents/forms/froi.pdf. The form, which is also available on our website, needs to be submitted by the supervisor. Next safety awareness training session

Hello Everyone, The next safety awareness training sessions is scheduled for Monday, July 9, 2018 from 1:30 - 2:30 pm am in FRNY G060A. All new employees and researchers need to have initial safety training. If you have new people joining your groups for research, they will need safety training before they start working (e.g. visitors, exchange students, post-docs, etc.). Please ask them to attend this session. Most of our undergraduate students already have the initial training, and would need to take the online refresher. Students from other departments, doing research in our labs, will need this initial training. Purdue Transform- Systems Offline June 29th

Results of safety inspections and safety reminders - June 2018

Hello Everyone, In preparation for the upcoming Safety Recertification of our School with REM, the ChE Safety Committee inspected this week all laboratories and offices in FRNY. I am glad to report that we noticed an overall improvement in the safety of our labs and offices. Please find attached a document that summarizes the he most frequent safety issues identified during the safety inspections. The document also spells out the OSHA and Purdue required documentation, PPE requirements and a reminder of some safety rules and policies applicable to Purdue and to our School. Please pay close attention to the safety gloves policy under the PPE section. Each faculty or person responsible for a specific area will receive another email with the results of the safety inspection for that area; please address the problems identified. The Safety Committee will perform unannounced inspections in the second part of July, to check whether the safety issues identified this week were addressed.
