ChE Domestic Travel Policy - COVID-19 Protocol

Dear All, This email is to reaffirm the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering's internal policy concerning domestic travel (outside of Indiana) for all faculty, staff, graduate students, post-docs and visiting scholars. Out of an abundance of caution and for our community's safety as well as with all of our best interest in mind, our School has implemented a stricter policy than that adopted by the University, which you may find HERE<https://protect.purdue.edu/updates/travel-guidelines-for-fall-2020/>. After approval for domestic travel outside of Indiana has been obtained by the Dean of the College of Engineering, and after such travel has been completed, School policy requires that prior to a return to physical presence on the Purdue campus all individuals should either self-quarantine for 14 days immediately after return or be tested for COVID-19 and receive a negative COVID-19 test result. (This School policy is identical to what is stated on the above Protect Purdue webpage, with the only exception being the replacement of "should consider" with "should".) If you wish to schedule a COVID-19 test, please contact the Protect Purdue Health Center at 765-496-4636 or 833-571-1043. Scheduling is very easy and only takes a couple of minutes of answering a few questions from the operator. Thereafter if they deem it appropriate then they will schedule you for a test. Processing of the results can take between 24-48 hours, after which you will receive a pdf of your results. You will need to share this document with your supervisor for our School's records. REQUIRED Purdue Training by 9/11/2020

Dear Faculty and Staff, Please remember to complete the required PROTECT PURDUE PLEDGE<https://protect.purdue.edu/updates/employe-pledge-training/> training by Friday, September 11, 2020. This training is mandatory for all employees whether working on campus or working remotely. As you may recall, this particular training is different than the previous training required for opening research labs back in the summer. You can find further detail by clicking HERE<https://protect.purdue.edu/updates/employe-pledge-training/>. You can take the training by signing into SuccessFactors and selecting the "Learning" option in the "Home" drop down menu located at the top left of your screen. The training requires you to watch a 6 minute video and then take four question quiz. Thereafter, you will need to click on a couple of document links, thus acknowledging you read through them. You will then take another 3 question quiz and provide your contact phone number on the third question. This is all required and must be completed by all faculty and staff by the end of this Friday. The entire process takes about 12 minutes. Annual Influenza Vaccination Required for Fall 2020

Dear All, Per the Protect Purdue website, Purdue has previously announced that it has added the annual influenza vaccination<https://protect.purdue.edu/updates/flu-shot-details/> to the immunization requirements for enrolled students, faculty and staff (this includes postdocs and visiting scholars) as a condition to being on campus. This is a mandatory requirement in order to be eligible to be on campus as part of the pandemic response plan and Protect Purdue Initiative. Purdue is requesting that all students, faculty, and staff (this includes postdocs and visiting scholars) get their annual influenza vaccination regardless of whether on campus, working remotely, or attending classes remotely at any point in time. This is in accordance with what the CDC recommends that all people, age 6 months and older, get the annual influenza vaccination. It is very important to understand that the requirement for the flu vaccine begins when flu season starts and Purdue has announced a few campus events to facilitate vaccinations, the deadline to get vaccination is currently planned to be by the end of October. Those who do not wish to come on campus for their vaccination may follow normal procedures to obtain a vaccination via their medical provider or pharmacy. As is usual, Purdue will allow exemptions for medical and religious purposes for the influenza vaccine but those employees will need to complete the Purdue University influenza declination form<https://www.purdue.edu/hr/COVID-19/flu-info/Influenza-Declination-Form.docx>. Faculty and staff must upload the declination form into the Healthy Boiler Portal<http://www.healthyboiler.com/>. All, Please see below a message regarding a thiol smell in the building. It appears the smell is still noticeable in the building, but there is no leak to be worried about. During the recent power outage there was a thiol odor leaking from the gloveboxes in Forney 3140. With the power returned the source of this smell has been shut off so there is no active leak and no danger. We have noticed that this odor is lingering in some of the stairwells and on the 3rd floor of Forney so we would like to inform everyone that this has been taken care of.
