FRNY 1060d Scan to Email issues.

Good afternoon, This only applies to people who use the scanner in FRNY 1060d to scan documents to email. For some reason the Spam Scanning software has decided that scanned items from that device are spam and is quarantining them using the "PureMessage" application. If you have an account on the exchange server you usually see one of these alerts every day or so. If you have scanned something to email in FRNY 1060d in the last couple of days and have not received it please log in to https://spamq.purdue.edu/ with your career account. From there you can look for the item in the list of blocked messages. To release the message you can check the box to the left of the message and then click "Deliver & Approve Sender" at the top of the list. We will work with ITAP to get this scanner 'cleared' so it is no longer seen as 'spam' but until that takes effect please use the method above to get your scanned documents if they don't arrive. Reminder: mandatory safety training refresher to be completed by May 17

This is a reminder that everyone in our School (faculty, grad students, post-docs, staff -including clerical and business office staff) needs to complete the online safety refresher training by the end of next week, Sunday, May 17, 2015. If you already completed it, please disregard this email. If you didn't complete the refresher training yet, please follow this link: https://engineering.purdue.edu/Intranet/Groups/Schools/ChE/SafetyTraining.h… to access the dedicated safety refresher web page. Log-in with your Purdue credentials and click on the link that best describes your status in our School to access the training material relevant to you. For PUID number please put in only the numbers, without the dash. You'll find full instructions in my initial announcement (see below). In addition to the online training, people working in a lab, including faculty responsible for research labs will need to turn in the CHP certification for their lab specific CHP, within 30 days of completing the online training. Following REM's recommendation and to comply with Purdue and OSHA safety training requirements, the ChE Safety Committee developed an on-line safety training refresher. This yearly refresher training is required for all ChE faculty, staff, graduate students and post-doctoral research associates and should be completed within 30 days of its announcement (you will receive an email every year with instructions on how to complete the on-line training and the due date). This year, everyone should complete the on-line safety training refresher by the end of Sunday, May 17, 2015. You can access the training material on any device linked to the internet; however, you will need a computer/laptop to take the quiz at the end and complete the training (the link to the quiz is not active from a mobile device such as an iPad or other tablets). Instructions: 1. Access the ChE safety website https://engineering.purdue.edu/ChE/AboutUs/Safety.html and click on the Annual Safety Training Refresher<https://engineering.purdue.edu/Intranet/Groups/Schools/ChE/SafetyTraining.h…> link under the Training heading. Alternatively, you can follow this link: https://engineering.purdue.edu/Intranet/Groups/Schools/ChE/SafetyTraining.h… to access the dedicated safety refresher web page. 2. Log-in with your Purdue credentials and click on the link that best describes your status in our School to access the training material relevant to you. 3. You can choose to download the training material on your computer or open it directly in your browser (in this case you will not be able to access to the training material during the quiz). 4. Read and understand the training material and follow the active links in the document (where applicable) for more information on specific topics. 5. Follow the "Take the quiz" link at the end of the document and take the short quiz to complete this part of the training. Once you complete the quiz, you will receive an email confirming that you completed the training. Print that email (or save it) and keep it for your own records. 6. If applicable, read the updated lab specific Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP) developed for the lab you work in (or, as PI, are responsible for) and complete the certification page (page 85 in the CHP template posted on REM's website: https://www.purdue.edu/ehps/rem/home/booklets/chp2014.pdf) 7. Monday Power Outage

Good morning, Due to the power outage on Monday, we would ask you to do the following at the end of the day with your ECN supported machines: Please reboot the system and leave it at the log on screen (don't log back on) and then on Wednesday log back in. For those that were not aware, Monday afternoon FRNY, as well as much of campus and West Lafayette, had a brief power outage. This of course resulted in all computers shutting off. When power was restored some computers came back on their own and others had to be manually powered back on. For Faculty and Staff computers I checked most late Monday (and a few this morning) to turn them back on if they were still off. If you were here on Monday and tried to immediately log back on via your ECN supported machine, you likely had issues accessing your normal 'drives' - this is because Atom didn't come back as fast as the PC's. A reboot followed by a 3-5 minute wait (after the log on screen has appeared) before logging back in should sort out most drive mapping issues. You may also want to check any machines in labs that are normally left on all the time as they may very well still be off. This contract award resulted from a competitive procurement process overseen by a commodity advisory team consisting of representatives from the Department of Biochemistry, Department of Chemistry, College of Pharmacy, Department of Biological Sciences, Business Offices and Procurement. This team conducted a thorough analysis of Purdue's purchasing preferences and service requirements, as well as the scientific supplies market segment. Fisher soon will manage four satellite storerooms at the following locations on Purdue's West Lafayette campus: Biochemistry Building, Lilly Hall, Heine Pharmacy Building and Wetherill Laboratory of Chemistry. On April 6, Fisher began a 12-week implementation to upgrade the storeroom operations. Six Purdue employees affected by this transition have been offered positions with Fisher. Among several new programs designed to benefit Purdue customers, Purdue and Fisher are collaborating on a convenient, updated point-of-sale experience at the storerooms, and Fisher also will be piloting a Chemical Archive program in the chemistry storeroom area. The chemical archive will allow researchers who only use a small portion of chemicals to return unused materials to storerooms for further use and minimizing waste when possible. The archive program also includes container tracking, reporting, and a central chemical library. The review of the scientific supply commodity began in March 2014, and this 12-month project results in improved inventory management and availability of scientific products. The partnership eliminates the 13.5 percent markup on products purchased through the stores. Customers will continue to enjoy free freight and significant package discounts on new lab startups. The partnership will offer streamlined purchasing, improved operation of the satellite stores, and consistent pricing which will result in direct cost savings to the departments and Purdue. Savings also will be achieved by consolidating volume with a primary supplier. By making Fisher the first stop for scientific supply needs, faculty and staff will achieve savings that benefit their grants, contracts or University-supported activities. What customers need to know now: * As of May 1, customers should see new contract prices in the Fisher Scientific catalog. * On July 1, Purdue plans to transition management of the storerooms to Fisher Scientific. Storerooms will remain open throughout the implementation. * The rollout of changes to the storerooms may be phased and will be communicated directly to customers, and via Purdue Procurement and Fisher’s customer website. * Faculty and staff are advised to use Fisher as the first choice for purchases of exact match items (same brand and item). * Faculty and staff are also encouraged to consider Fisher’s top-quality, technically equivalent, discounted products for all scientific supply needs. * Purdue and Fisher are working in partnership on the implementation, including contacting manufacturers and informing current suppliers of the new partnership. * Fisher, in conjunction with Procurement and Service Enterprises, will host a supplier showcase on campus in June. More information will be forthcoming. * Additional information will be provided through eList 39, Purdue Today, and direct communication with customers.
