Yesterday afternoon many buildings campus wide were unable to cool spaces sufficiently due to a lack of chilled water flow and I suspect it will be magnified today and tomorrow. Our staff will still respond to hot calls but I ask everyone to please be understanding that there is little the technicians can do when the chilled water supply temps raise or flow stops. If your spaces house sensitive equipment that requires cooling please communicate this to those areas. If damage or loss can be prevented by monitoring space and equipment temperatures I ask that they please do so regularly today. Most notably server equipment, research equipment and samples, and Machinery can be severely impacted when cooling is unable to maintain. Safety awareness training session - this Thursday

Hello everyone, I have scheduled a safety awareness training session for Thursday, July 11, from 2-3 pm in FRNY G060A. All new employees and researchers need to have initial safety training. If you have new people joining your groups for research, they will need safety training before they can start working (e.g. visitors, exchange students, post-docs, etc.). Please ask them to attend this sessions. Most of our undergraduate students already have the initial training, and would need to take the online refresher. Students from other departments or universities doing research in our labs, will need this initial training. Should you have any questions, please let me know.
