Reminder to be mindful of phishing emails

This morning myself and many others received a phishing email that looked fairly convincing with the subject of " Upgrade Purdue University webmail account immediately." The email contained a link that went to a non-Purdue webpage that is designed to look somewhat official which requests the user to enter his her email, login and password. Please remember not to click on links in emails unless you are 100% sure of their authenticity. These emails are designed to harvest your account information. If you did go to the website in the link and enter your email and password you should immediately change your password. When in doubt please send an email to cheq(a)ecn.purdue.edu and we will let you know if the email appear legitimate. Almost 100% of the time the answer is the email is a fake. Bugs

BE ADVISED - For the past couple of weeks the building has experienced more activity of bugs moving around and sighted in many different areas. Pest control used to spray on a monthly schedule but at our request has been spraying during the evening hours on a regular biweekly basis for some time now. When this occurs is usually when you will see more pests in the open as they are dead or dying as a result of the spray. We try to be diligent in removing or disposing of them as we find them but as you hopefully are aware of, this is always an ongoing process. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Faculty Candidate seminar - Ms Heather Mayes, Tuesday, February 3

Dear Colleagues, The seminar of faculty candidate Ms Heather Mayes is scheduled for Tuesday, February 3, 9-10:30 am in FRNY 3059. She is completing her PhD from Northwestern University - her CV is attached fyi. This is not a required seminar for graduate students.
