For those of you interested in training on the purchasing system. __________________________________________________________________________________ Registration Available for 'Open Lab for SRM for Requisitioners' - 03/8/12 Two open labs for Purdue employees who purchase goods and services through SRM are being presented this month. The first "SRM 260-Open Lab for SRM Requisitioners" is scheduled for 3-5 p.m., Tuesday, March 13 in FREH 248, Freehafer's second-floor training room. "SRM 260" repeats 9-11 a.m., Wednesday, March 28 in FREH 104, the first-floor training room in Freehafer. Participants need attend only once. The labs give SRM requisitioners more experience creating the different types of shopping carts available in SRM, as well as hands-on practice. Employees new to the requisitioner role will receive practice in creating carts, and participants more experienced in SRM may bring actual orders (i.e., University Stores, Printing Services, Describe Requirement, BOILERMART) that they find difficult to place. Attendees are encouraged to bring their SRM 250 manual as a resource and for notekeeping. Cindi Stinebaugh, business analyst for Procurement Services, will be present during both labs. Staff planning to attend a lab will ensure a seat in the classroom by following these steps to enroll: 1. Out of the Office 3-15 thru 3-30

I will be on vacation from Thursday, March 15th through Friday, March 30th. The student workers will be in most of those days for limited hours and will monitor the queue however please do not expect some tasks to be completed while I am away, they will mainly be addressing 'emergency' issues and simple software installs. Specifically on March 15th and 16th, the last two days of Spring Break, there will be neither myself nor the students here. If you have anything that you know you will want completed before April 1st I'd ask that you please send a request to cheq(a)ecn.purdue.edu as soon as possible so we might work on it before I am gone. A reminder again to not send computer related requests to my personal email - they should all go to the queue where the students can also see them and act on them if needed. Jay and Cynthia Ihlenfeld Head of Chemical Engineering

Dear Colleagues, I am writing to inform that Jay (BSChE '74) and Cindy Ihlenfeld have demonstrated tremendous generosity in endowing the School’s Headship - their gift will benefit the School in perpetuity. To name the headship, Jay and Cindy Ihlenfeld have signed an agreement to contribute $1.5 million over a three-year period, while the College of Engineering will provide $500,000 in matching funds. When matured, the total $2 million gift will provide approximately $100,000 annually “to be used for the benefit of the School of Chemical Engineering, as determined by the Head of the School with the approval of the Dean of the College of Engineering.” In collaboration with UDO and the Dean’s office, we are trying to determine the most appropriate way to honor Jay and Cindy on campus for their gift. I will inform you when the plans are certain. As you are aware, Jay has had an outstanding career with 3M, including service as the company’s CTO for many years before assuming his current position as Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific about four years ago.
