It is now time to complete the online annual safety refresher training, which is required for our School's ISP recertification with EHS. The training is required for all ChE faculty, staff, graduate students, post-doctoral researchers and visiting researchers/scholars, regardless of when they joined the School. The process of completing the safety refresher training was recently streamlined, and the additional step of logging the completion of training was eliminated. Please follow the instructions below and complete the required safety refresher training by the end of Friday, March 1, 2024. Instructions: 1. Before starting the refresher training: * Review the Building Emergency Plan (BEP) for FRNY Building<https://www.purdue.edu/ehps/emergency-preparedness/emergency-plans/bep/buil…> * Complete the Lab Specific Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP) training by reviewing your lab's CHP and all relevant SOPs (if applicable). 2. A Bittersweet Farewell & to Future Success for Lauren Hays

Dear ChE Community, I have some bittersweet news to share regarding Lauren Hays. After many years of working diligently for our School, she has received an opportunity too hard to pass up. Thus, she has elected to accept a job offer as a Senior Administrative Assistant in the Chemistry department at Purdue where she will have a chance to play a new role with new problems to tackle. She will be continuing her duties for our School until March 15, 2024, thereafter faculty support will be reassigned between our main office team so please be on the lookout for that info. This will inevitably affect the support our team can offer while we search for her replacement; we appreciate your understanding and patience during this transition period. We appreciate all of the years of dedication to our School and the role she has played within our team. Every one of us can attest to her industrious work ethic and I am sure she will have success in her new position. Please join me in congratulating her on her new position at Purdue! New CHE Employee - Robert Cramsey

Dear CHE Community, I am happy to announce that starting today we have a new employee, Robert Cramsey, who is starting as the School's Senior Maintenance Mechanic. Robert has experience working across Purdue and joins us from his previous position as a Zone 3 Maintenance Technician, so he is very familiar with Purdue's internal work order processes and policies. He also has experience in construction ranging from doing some plumbing, finishing drywall, painting, and carpentry to name a few. We couldn't be more happy to have Robert join our team and are positive he will become an asset to our School. FRNY 2107 No Longer Conference Room

Dear ChE Community, I would like to inform you all that FRNY 2107 has been delisted from our conference rooms and has been converted for use as a graduate office. Our administrative staff have previously been rescheduling all appointments in anticipation for this, but I would like everyone to be aware of these changes and plan accordingly. Safety inspection of ALL labs and offices in FRNY - next week

Hello everyone, In preparation for the ISP recertification with EHS in March, members of the ChE Safety Committee will conduct safety inspections of ALL labs and offices, starting Monday, February 5, 2024. We will use the forms in the first 2 tabs of the attached Excel workbook. If you have a sensitive experiment running and your lab can't be inspected now, please place a clearly visible note on the entrance door to the lab, and the inspection team will respect that. Reports of the inspections will be sent to PIs and safety officers (for labs) and to occupants of labs (if needed). Any identified deficiencies will need to be corrected within the time specified on the forms. Instructions on how to follow up regarding correction of deficiencies will be communicated when the results of the safety inspections are shared. Thank you for your commitment to safety!
