Welcome to EPICS,
1. All EPICS students are required to complete the EPICS Lab Safety Awareness and Use Guidelines badge in Purdue Passport during their first week of lab. To do so, please follow the instructions below. If you earned the badge last semester, you don't need to repeat this process.
* You should have received an invitation to join the Purdue Passport EPICS group. Please use the link provided by the invitation to access the group using your username and Boiler Key. You may also visit https://www.openpassport.org/Group/EPICS/.
* Open the Safety Awareness and Use Guidelines badge.
* Watch the safety video.
* Read the Lab Safety Awareness and Use Guidelines form.
* Under Challenges: select your Team.
* Take the Lab Safety Quiz.
* Make sure to accept the responses when you are done with each challenge.
Completing the badge will give you access to the EPICS Labs using your Purdue ID card, which may become handy during evenings and weekends. Those who earned the badge last semester, and have registered in EPICS before today, should have card access starting on Monday Jan 13.
1. Students are required to document their work and reflections in virtual notebooks. To access your team notebook,
* Please visit the EPICS SharePoint site at: https://purdue0.sharepoint.com/sites/epics/default.aspx.
* Click your team's name under the EPICS Teams header
* And select Notebook on the left-side menu
Your TA may provide additional instructions on how to copy the Student Template and rename it with your name, as well as, under which project section your notebook pages should be placed.
Please let me know if you have any questions or reach out to your team's TA.
Thanks,
Jorge Martinez, PE

Important EPICS Week 16 Announcements
Great job this semester, everyone, and have a wonderful winter break! We hope to see most of you back in the spring to continue the good work you have begun in your community.
________________________________
End of Semester Clean and Label!
Every team is responsible to clean out your team locker and make sure that any materials or prototypes outside the lockers are clearly labeled with your team name and the current semester. Assume that everything you leave out without a current label will be thrown away. When cleaning out lockers, don't trash the lab- put away any tools or common supplies that were left in your lockers, throw away the trash, and donate back to the lab any good condition items that your team will not need.

Purdue Journal of Service Learning and Service Learning Summit
If you have some service-learning work you'd like to show off (maybe that shiny new EPICS project you just finished), or maybe just need a resume-booster, consider publishing your work in the Purdue Journal of Service Learning. Another great opportunity to present your work is at the Purdue Engagement and Service-Learning Summit, held in February here on campus. Both of these are great opportunities to practice or show-off your technical writing and presentation skills - both of which will come in handy, especially if you are interested in grad school. See the attached fliers for details.
________________________________
End of Semester Deliverables
* Check the milestone schedule<https://sharepoint.ecn.purdue.edu/epics/teams/Public%20Documents/Milestone_…> for list of deliverables.
* Your TA or advisor can give you details on specific due dates.
________________________________
Verify Your Attendance
Be sure to check your attendance and PDH credits in MyEPICS. Let your advisor or TA know if you have any missing credits. Insufficient credits can severely impact your grade.

Hi Teams,
With design review coming up next week, many of you have extended invitations to your community partners, mentors, or other guest reviewers. If you haven't sent those invitations yet, you will need to do so this week. If you need to find your project partner's contact info, you can find it by visiting MyEPICS, clicking 'View Team Members', and opening the Print View.
To facilitate parking passes and lunches for your design reviewers, please direct them to register for design review at https://maillinks.purdue.edu/t/38324497/962993420/81829720/1/83631/?x=18e6a…. Remember that remote reviews are also available and convenient through GoToMeeting. Reviewers that complete registration will receive details on how to login.
Best,
Andrew

EPICS students,
In an effort to make easier and more transparent the queue for the 3D printers, we have changed the form to request 3D prints. You can access the form by visiting the EPICS at Purdue website (https://engineering.purdue.edu/EPICS/purdue/resources/print-3d) or the form itself (https://tinyurl.com/epics3d)
We have also moved the queue to an online spreadsheet, which is auto-filled by your requests. We will be testing the online queue for the next few days, and once it is proven to work well, we will post it online, so you can follow the progress of your requests.
Please let me know if you experience any issues or if you have any questions.
Thanks,
