Important EPICS Week 11 Announcements ________________________________ Delivering this Semester? If your team plans to deliver your project this semester, be sure to complete the EPICS delivery checklist. This includes projects that have final deliverables of non-tangible products (project plans, formal recommendations, etc). Find more information on the delivery process at https://engineering.purdue.edu/EPICS/teams/team-documents/project-delivery. Remember, without a checklist, you will not receive an EPICS delivery t-shirt. ________________________________ Skill Session Attendance We have had a major issue this semester with people not showing up to skill sessions they have signed up for. If you have signed up for a skill session and cannot attend, we understand - things come up. If this occurs, and you know you won't be able to attend a session, please go to MyEPICS and deregister. Leaving yourself registered occupies slots that other students could use and causes significant mental anguish to the TA teaching the session. ________________________________ Evening with the Old Masters - November 6th - Counts for one PDH Meet the Old Masters - A long-standing Purdue tradition that connects distinguished professionals to the student body in order to broaden perspectives, unite generations, and inspire one another to move the world forward together as Boilermakers. See attached flier for details. ________________________________ Three Day Startup - November 10th to 12th A weekend entrepreneurship event which emphasizes learning-by-doing to teach students how to build companies. Learn from mentors and investors with real experience. All meals and materials are provided. EPICS INDIA - Weekly Update

Hey guys, Since there isn't too much of information that needs to be conveyed, I decided to wrap up the newsletter into an email. I hope you guys have practiced your presentations. Be ready to finish it within 10minutes or so. Dress code is smart casual so make sure you don't forget that in the morning. Reminders for lab this week - (27th)

Hey guys, Hope you are having a good weekend. I wanted to brief you guys on what to expect for lab this week so that you can prepare in advance and make sure that work doesn't pile up just before Friday. We will be presenting a design review/overview from 8.30am to 9.30am. What I mean by this is that your team should be able to present your projects within the hour. Since we have 3 teams, I would expect each team to take up to 15 minutes and expect 5-10 minutes of questions. Now remember that these numbers are by no means a hard value that you need to stick to, but more of a reference point to make sure all three teams have enough time to present their projects without having to rush through it. Since it's a team presentation, we need to make sure we are organized and updated on each others' proceedings, and therefore I will be expecting the teams to make their presentations AT LEAST by Wednesday, so that I can take a look at it and give you feedback by Thursday. I would love to have a mock presentation, but understanding course load and logistical issues in getting everyone together at the same place on the same day, we will not be having a mock presentation for the entire team. I have attached a google slides link for you to put up the presentation on. Make sure it's done by Wednesday and if you have a lot of work due, communicate within your team to see if you can get it completed with help from someone else. Please let me know when you are having your team mock reviews and I will try my best to come and see it and maybe discuss any changes that we might need. The presentation itself should be very short and interesting and be able to speak for itself. Feel free to use slides from the Design Review and just adjust for time. Finally, as Kelsey mentioned, let's make sure that we wear attire that makes it more formal. I don't expect business casual like the design review, but let's try and stick to smart casual. EPICS Leadership Series

The series is worth 8 PDHs and consists of four guest speaker sessions, reading The Student Leadership Challenge, and one small group meeting. EPICS Students Raised $1300 for Puerto Rico

Hi all, You all exceeded our matching donation challenge, donating $650 for hurricane relief for Puerto Rico and raising $1300 with the staff matching funds. Submissions due this week - Reminder

Hey guys, Hope your week has been good so far. I want to remind you guys about the stuff due this week. * Notebooks: Your notebooks are due Friday, October 6th, 5:00 pm. Your comments from week 4 conferences do not need to be fixed for weeks prior to that, but there should be clear evidence of work done and improvement from that. * Individual Evaluation Rubric and Project Evaluation Rubric Should be completed and handed over by hand, at the start of design review on Friday, October 6th. * Peer Evaluation: Make sure you complete the peer evaluation before the due date. To access your peer evaluation, go to myEPICS and click on "View Available Peer Evaluations<https://engineering.purdue.edu/MyEpics/index.php?Module=Modules_Survey&Acti…>" > Team Members should evaluate everyone in their Sub - Team, and if you feel like you want to review anyone with specific team roles (eg: Webmaster, Financial officer, project manager), you can do so. > Design leads have the same responsibilities as team members, but you are required to review the Project Manager (me) and can review anyone else with a team role.
