EPICS Matching Gifts for Puerto Rico Relief

Good afternoon EPICS family, You may have noticed the posters on the lab walls for the Yo Soy Puerto Rico gofundme campaign. This is a multi-university, student driven campaign to raise money for hurricane relief for Puerto Rico. The funds will go to Unidos por Puerto Rico, a public-private initiative started by the office of the First Lady of Puerto Rico, Beatriz Isabel Roselló. As I'm sure you are aware, the devastation in Puerto Rico has been tremendous, and they are in need of significant aid. Hey guys, I just wanted to remind you that we have our mock presentation Today at 8.15pm. You will just have to come to the same place we meet for lab. So some of you had replied and some haven't, so let me remind of the things to finish by today. > Use the link I sent in the previous email to make the slides. Your slides don't have to be perfect, but we need to have the general structure of how your team will be presenting the slides. >The design documents should be ready as we have to submit it tomorrow. Hey guys, I am sorry about the number of emails you keep receiving, but we need to get a lot of work done and not everyone checks/has access to their GroupMe. Since there have been a few people who had questions about design documents and couldn't find it on SharePoint, I'll attach the Template that you will have to use and a few examples. If you still want more examples, you can go to : Sharepoint > India > Semester Documentation> Select a semester and look for "Design specification" or "Design Document" In summary, documents attached include: 1. Design Document Template 2. Design Document Example (HFIC Irrigation Team)x2 Semesters 3. Mid Semester Design Review Presentation x 2 Semesters If you still have any further clarifications, drop me an email and I will get back to you. Mock Design Review - THURSDAY 8.15 PM (LOCATION TBD)

Hey guys, So after looking at the list, almost everyone can make it on Thursday at 8.15pm. I will get back to you within the next two days about the location, (most probably the same room as Lab) but I will need to talk to our TA and see if she can reserve it. So for now, just make sure that you keep Thursday evening free and start working on your presentation. To make it easier, I have added a google slides link so you can make the presentation on that, so we don't have to worry about making sure everyone has the most recently edited copy of the presentation. Link to slides: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/198scVEw7DCos-WxTL4k33Yhtj9FUBthEdhh… Note: The idea of a design review is to present the work you have done so far to all those who will be there on the day. The presentation should be designed in a way where all three teams can finish presenting within 1.5 hours or less, and open floor for questions and answers. The best way to go about it is to think of the reviewers as people who have no idea what is going on with your project, and your presentation should be able to give them a good overview of what it's about. The idea isn't to be very technical or specific, but rather be informative and simple, and yet be able to relay all the work you have done so far in an interesting manner. Teams, also make sure that your design specifications are coming along. This document is something that will be handed over to everyone present, and it should be detailed and thorough. Don't try to make it at the last moment as you will tend to miss out on important bits. Let me know if you have any questions. If you have no idea about what the presentations should look like, please make sure you go through SharePoint and see previous semesters' design reviews. Important EPICS Week 6 Announcements ________________________________ Lecture Monday, September 18th, 2017: All of the required PDHs for first time students are now complete. ________________________________ Design Documents - Due on the day of your lab this week! * A PDF of the design documents should be submitted by the end of day that your lab is held to give our design reviewers time to read them. * You can continue to update and overwrite the document throughout the semester. * Upload instructions: o The PDF should be uploaded to https://sharepoint.ecn.purdue.edu/epics/designreview/default.aspx. o Find the day of the week for your team, and then your team's folder . o Please delete past versions from this folder so the reviewers don't have to sort through them. ________________________________ Engagement Grants - Due October 6th Teams with partners external to Purdue should consider applying for engagement grants through the office of the provost at https://slg.engagement.purdue.edu/. Grants can be designated for one or two semesters.
