Hi EPICS Classes The class "Water Supply in Developing Countries" will be hosting Mr. Suprio Das for a visit in the first part of next week. Suprio leads a company that has developed an automatic chlorinating device that functions without electrical power. This device could play important roles in provision of safe water for people in developing countries and in disaster-relief settings. As part of his visit, Suprio has agreed to give a seminar on Tuesday April 24, from 3:30-4:30 PM in ARMS 1103. He will be talking about the automatic chlorinator ("Zimba") and some of its applications. An announcement of this seminar is attached. Hi again all, Sorry, I missed one important announcement! See below. -Andrew Habitat for Humanity, one of our longest partnerships, has a charity bike ride in May called Cover Indiana. (https://www.hfhcoverindiana.org/ ) The Habitat student chapter is one of the sponsors. Prof. Oakes, Director of EPICS, is riding the first two days which is called the "Taste of the Cover" and he invites any other EPICS students to join him. It starts Sunday, May 6th, right after finals are done. Prof. Oakes will be riding May 6-7 and there are rides back to Lafayette. If you want to ride the whole 7 days, you are welcome to with the other students from the chapter. The Habitat student chapter is a main sponsor and there are several other students who ride as part of the chapter. The cost is $20 per day for students and you are expected to fundraise $75 per day. Students will rotate with doctors to gain a deeper understanding of the patients and Dr. Chuck's mission to help children who have endured traumatic accidents heal faster by making their experience at the hospital fun and interactive. Students will also experience the world famous Indy 500 by attending racecar practices, the lights race, pit stop contest, and interactive museum tours to inspire ideas for their designs. Renovation of ARMS 1101 - former Design Build Lab

Hi EPICS students, Exciting things are happening next week! We have the EPICS Award Ceremony on Monday and the Final Design Review sessions throughout the week. You might have noticed cleaning work done this week in the old Design Build Lab (ARMS 1101), and that is, because we also expect renovation work to begin. The room will become a new EPICS team meeting room over the summer, similar to ARMS 1098 B and C. Purdue's Capital Program Management office is in charge of the project, and they have requested the room empty beginning this Monday April 16. So, please do not store anything in that room. It will not be available until early August, and it may be tossed along with construction debris by the project construction crew. Let me know if you have any questions.
