Reminder that February 15th is an open day for LORRE seminar as we do not have anyone scheduled to present. Please use this time to help get the lab settled into our new space.

All,
The refrigerator in 4117C isn’t closing completely. If anyone knows how to close it, or who to contact about this please respond.
For now it is taped closed, so if getting things out of the fridge, please retape it closed or ensure it closes completely when done.
Thank you,

To every LORRE member in ABE-
I mistakenly removed the purple post-it flag from the Sodium Azide SOP signature page. Please stop by my ABE 2014H office to sign it at your convenience.
Please use this Google Sheet to update the Abbreviations since none were added to the 4107 white board yesterday after's our meeting.

Hey there LORRE people! If you haven’t already, please sign up to participate in the ABE Graduate research symposium. We’re all trying to make the best of our current situation and this is one event you won’t want to miss.
They have quite a few students signed up to attend, but need more to actually participate. I mean, what’s a poster session without posters… amiright? If you have an old poster or a new poster or a medium-aged poster, go ahead and present it.
What have you got to lose? Actually, you probably have more to gain… LORRE researchers usually fare quite well in the competitions for the symposium and there is actual cash money to be won. Like prizes in the hundred(s) of dollars range. That’s 33 to 66 cappuccinos from Copper Moon. Can you imagine, 6+ weeks of “free” daily cappuccinos? Sounds pretty awesome.

I hope to “see” you all at the symposium next week :) Maybe I should give some negative reinforcement too. Something like if you don’t participate then you have 5 extra hours of unpacking… but that wouldn’t work because unpacking is too much fun to be a punishment.
Best,
Dr. E

All,
We will not have LORRE seminar this morning (I apologize for the late ‘reminder’). We will resume next week with a safety update from Lindsey Crawley.

Welcome, welcome back, or hey! Please look for the calendar invite sent last week with the Zoom details (or the end of this email). We will plan to meet tomorrow (01/25) at 10:00 AM.
This week, we will welcome new members, go over any new safety or COVID information, and set the schedule for the semester. Schedule is located here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1uBhyQPcpk4jHGfN4eg731Duo1vQFXy6ddY0…
Attendance at LORRE seminar is mandatory for all students in LORRE - though courses come first, so we don’t expect or want you to miss class. Please also turn on your video so that we can interact as best as possible.
Best,
~Dr. Engelberth

Thanks for all who participated in the poll for when to hold the LORRE seminar. It appears that Mondays at 10:00 AM will work the best for the greatest number of people. I will send a calendar invite with the details. We will begin the semester by meeting via zoom and then possibly transition to in-person as the semester progresses. We will meet on Monday the 25th of January to determine the schedule for the semester.
Best,
~Dr. Engelberth
