It is a great chance to help forward broader (and smaller) campus and community sustainability initiatives AND to network with students, faculty, staff, and administration. Hello ESE Faculty, This is a reminder that we need to have applications reviewed. Please log into SharePoint and review and give feedback on applications. The details on how to access SharePoint are below. Below are instructions. 1. Details on accessing SharePoint. 2. Instructions to submit your reviews. 3. "Snapshot in progress" excel file 1. Accessing SharePoint We use a SharePoint website for easy access to all applications electronically Go to the ESE webpage<http://www.gradschool.purdue.edu/ese/>, then hover over "For Faculty" and click "ESE Faculty Login" User name = onepurdue\career account For example - onepurdue\musser Password= career account password In the column on the left, click on the "ESE 2013" link/folder under Documents. Then open the FACULTY REVIEW APPLICATIONS FOLDER to access each student application. This folder will continue to receive new applications as they become complete in the next week or so. (We have admitted 11 students so far and we will be working to find them fellowships, assistantships, etc.) Your reviews are very important and knowing if you have funding possibilities is helpful too. 2. Submit your Reviews Please begin reviewing the applications and submitting your reviews via the form in SharePoint. Once logged into SharePoint, on the left column, at the top, Click on 2013 Survey Applicant Reviews. Then click on "Respond to this Survey". Complete the Survey to let us know your thought on the applications you reviewed. Each applicant will be reviewed by at least three faculty members. 3. Snapshot in Progress Located in the "ESE 2013" link/folder on the left column. The Snapshot is an excel file that list all the applicants names, GRE Scores, faculty interest, etc. This file is a starting point to see which applications you would like to take a closer look at. As more applications are submitted and complete, the file will be updated. Please let me know if you have any questions about the process or logging into SharePoint. Reminders and follow up fun for tomorrow night (Friday) Interdepartmental Gathering

Reminding you about the ESE gathering tomorrow night starting at 5pm. After the ESE gathering, Patrick is inviting everyone to come to his apartment above Chumley's - see invite below from Patrick. Seeing how several students will be attending departmental gatherings friday afternoon, we'll be hosting an interdepartmental gathering Friday Night around 9:00 PM we're having a get together at our apartment in downtown Lafayette, at 122 N. 3rd St. Apt. 300 (Above Chumley's, top of the stairs). Students, staff, and faculty are all welcome to attend. If you would like to bring drinks, food, family, and friends, all are most welcome. While it's the end of the semester and each of us are hunkering down to get final projects, papers, and studying completed, this will be a good chance to have a little breather. We will also have plenty of study spaces, wireless internet, and a whiteboard if anyone wanted to bring a little work with them. Call #1 - for sessions In this first call we are soliciting proposals for pre-organized workshops, symposia, panels, and roundtables in which all (or a substantial number of) scholars have already agreed to participate. Session proposal deadline: Extended to December 13th, 2012. Call #2 - for individual papers/presentations The second call is for individual abstracts for all forms of oral and poster presentations. This call will follow the close of the call for sessions. AESS will make every effort to group individual papers/presentations together as thematic sessions, and may assign individual proposals to unfilled sessions developed from the first call. Presenters involved in a pre-organized symposium, panel or roundtable must submit their abstracts at this time. For pre-organized workshops, the organizer must submit an abstract for the workshop as a whole at this time, although abstracts are not required of individual presenters in such workshops. AGRY 582 offered odd years so this spring 2013 has the title 'Pesticide Degradation', HOWEVER, per need and student demand, the instructor Dr. Turco has decided to make a major content shift in the course to focus on "Biodegradation and Bioremediation". So this spring it will be taught with this new content and a course title change is in process. Linda S. ESE students (and faculty) reminder and a few details about our end of the semester get together: When & Where: Friday, December 7th, 5-8 pm in MANN (the atriums) Who: You and your spouses, children, etc. are welcomed. A few things 1. We really need you to respond with an RSVP at ESEevent(a)purdue.edu<mailto:ESEevent@purdue.edu> and how many are coming with you so we can plan accordingly - plan to come and go as you can 2. If you would like to bring something homemade - a dessert or a crock pot of something - that would be great since homemade food is usually much more enjoyable. This is not necessary to attend, but just if you want to contribute. 3. If you feel like giving a small gift to Christal and Clayton, you are most welcome to go together in small groups to provide a gift. Alternatively, you can make a monetory contribution and we will put together a gift card for her. Congratulations to Landon Young for being selected as one of ten U.S. Kauffman Global Scholars. As a U.S. Kauffman Global Scholar he gets to travel the world, complete an internship, and network with different groups. Congratulations Landon! Congratulations to Michael Schuster for being awarded a USDA-AFRI International Research Travel Grant to conduct a portion of his research at EVENT II located in Bayreuth, Germany. Congratulations Michael! (We are going to try to get better at announcing awards so make sure we know when you get them.....I am very proud of the continued accolades to ESE students! There have been many! Keep up the awesome work!)
