FYI to remind ethos of you who may interested. Purdue will have 5 free registrations, but 2 are spoken for already by 2 ESE students. Therefore, there are still 3 available. Please let me know if you are interested and I will give you the code needed to get free registration. Having said that, Purdue is not currently listed as a NCSE affiliate, because we paid our membership dues late. We are trying to get this fixed by Monday morning so those of you that plan to submit abstracts (due Monday) can do so (registration required at the time of abstract submission). Nations are beginning to integrate such environmental factors into decisions regarding defense, diplomacy and development. On January 18-20, 2012, the 12th National Conference on Science, Policy and the Environment will address these manifold issues through five keynote addresses from prominent and influential leaders; eight fascinating plenary sessions with journalists as moderators; 22 fascinating symposia; and 25 interactive breakout workshops. ESE Faculty, If you haven't already registered for the ESE Symposium and you plan on attending, you should register right away. We are reaching capacity for our events very, very quickly. There is a chance we might have to close registration for a few of the sessions soon and we don't want any ESE students or faculty to be left out. Also, we hope you will encourage your graduate and undergraduate students to submit research posters to the poster competition. Purdue University is a proud partner in the Clean Energy Trust. Purdue Students are encouraged to participate in the Clean Energy Challenge 2012 in which the top state winner receives $10K and the top regional winner receives $100K. The Clean Energy Challenge will be held March 2012. THE APPLICATION PROCESS OPENS NOVEMBER 1ST AT : http://cleanenergychallenge2012.istart.org Detailed information is attached. The call-out for detailed information about the Clean Energy Challenge is Monday, October 17th at 6:00 p.m. in RAWLS 3082. The format of the call out will be a panel of clean energy/sustainability faculty, researchers, community members followed by networking and some potential team formation around some of the great ideas students have. Teams may contain faculty, students from other schools, or non-students but only students are eligible to present and receive prize money. * Ventures with revenues prior to the current academic year are excluded. Ventures that have raised equity capital from sources other than the members of the student team before the current academic year are excluded. * A business venture that reaches the Finals may not compete in future Clean Energy Student Challenge competitions. * Prize money will not be awarded to an individual. The applicant must incorporate in the geographic region of the Student Challenge to be eligible for awards.
