This is a reminder that:
* Summer registration is open. EPICS is available on campus and online. Consider taking EPICS if you are on campus or if you have time available within your summer plans.
* Pre-registration for the Fall 2026 semester ends tomorrow (Wednesday, March 25), which gives you the best chance to be enrolled in your preferred team. By pre-registering, your EPICS section will be placed on your CRF before open registration begins and optimize your other courses.
Please contact epics(a)purdue.edu<mailto:epics@purdue.edu> or visit Register - EPICS - Purdue University<https://engineering.purdue.edu/EPICS/purdue/current-students/register> for details.

All EPICS General Communication, please remember to preregister for next semester. It is the easiest way to ensure your CRF is planned around your EPICS team selection. Pre-registration ends on March 25. Do it now before you forget during Spring Break.

Dear EPICS students,
As you might have heard, Purdue has cancelled campus operations tomorrow (Monday, January 25, 2026) until 10:30am. You can find more details at Campus Safety Status<https://www.purdue.edu/emergency/>. Before heading to EPICS, please consider:
* Any PDHs scheduled for Monday before 10:30am are cancelled. If you have registered to attend the Design/Wallet Exercise (PDH #3 for first-time EPICS students), you can register in another session or meet with a class mate and view the recording in Brightspace (visit Week 3 in Content).
* Contact EPICS staff or advisors via email or Teams to make sure they will be available. Personnel may decide to work remotely due to family circumstances caused by local school closings. Meeting online might be your best option.
* Although you should still have access to EPICS labs using your PUID, buildings might be closed. Wait until 10:30am before attending to work on campus.
Thanks,

Welcome to Spring 2026
Pre-semester Announcements
All EPICS General Communication, as we prepare for the upcoming new semester, I would like to remind everyone to keep an eye on this Announcements channel for key information from the EPICS staff. You can also tell your friends to join EPICS for experiential learning while engaging communities locally, nationally, and throughout the globe.
If you are new to EPICS, these are important tools:
* Brightspace: All EPICS teams have a Brightspace site, which includes the syllabus, core academic information, and grades. Please visit https://purdue.brightspace.com/<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpurdue.br…>.
* Microsoft Teams: All EPICS teams have a Microsoft Teams instance to collaborate, share files, and conduct video conferencing. Keep notifications on to see when the team is trying to reach you.
* Website: The EPICS website has a lot of complementary information, such as, teams descriptions and schedule, lab resources, weekly assignments (milestones), and more. Explore https://engineering.purdue.edu/EPICS/purdue.
Your to-do list for week 1 (Jan 12-16) includes:
* EPICS Safety Awareness Quiz - Find the safety quiz in the Pre-semester section in Brightspace (visit Content in the top menu).
* Intro to EPICS (PDH 1) – Required for all First-Time EPICS Students - all students in their first semester of EPICS are required to complete five introductory Professional Development Hours (PDHs) by the end of week 6. All of them can be found on your course Brightspace site. Make sure to take the quiz to verify completion.
* Get familiar with your chosen team and project - once you know the particular project you will work on, if the project is a continuation from last semester, please find in Teams the transitional document and/or design document and read it to get acquainted with it. If the project is new, you may want to find additional information about your project partner to understand the vision, needs, and opportunities the project may address.
Finally, to succeed in EPICS:
* Get to know your project partner.
* Take initiative and drive your project.
* Ask for help whenever you are not sure what to do next or how.
* Take notes of the work you do as you do it (e.g., what, when, where, how, and why).
* Set 5-10 minutes each week to reflect on the highlights of your project and document it.
* Repeat...

Spring 2026 Pre-Registration Coming to an End
All EPICS General Communication, just a friendly reminder that pre-registration ends on Wednesday, Oct 29. Pre-registration allows EPICS to communicate your team preferences to the Registrar's Office before batch scheduling is complete, which is the easiest way to ensure you are assigned to your favorite EPICS team. The course will be added to your CRF (course request form) only if you complete the pre-registration survey<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpurdue.ca…>.
If you do not complete the pre-registration, you can still add the course during open registration, but you may need to specify the appropriate CRN (course reference number) to ensure you are enlisted in the right team. Please remember, each team is different, and you cannot participate on a project from a different section. Reach out to epics-wl(a)purdue.edu<mailto:epics-wl@purdue.edu> if you have questions or direct message Haley A L Cutler or me.

Subject: Midsemester Deliverables- Team INDIA Fall 2025
Hi team,
Please read this announcement carefully. It outlines all your mid-semester deliverables. Missing any of the following will negatively impact your mid-semester grade.
Individual Deliverables due by 10/12/25 11:59 PM. Please submit them by 10/12 so I have time to check that everything is uploaded:
1. Individual Evaluation Rubric (IER) - Responsibility: each individual team member:
This is how you advocate for your grade.
* Find the IER template on Brightspace > content > your level
* Alternatively find at: https://engineering.purdue.edu/EPICS/purdue/team-documents/ier
* Read the "IER Instructions", download the IER appropriate to your course level, complete all the sections by self-grading with E/P/C/N for each of the 5 categories, save it in pdf format, and upload your completed IER by submitting to the Assignment "Individual Evaluation Rubric - Midterm" in Brightspace.
* Outline your accomplishments with detailed description and evidence.
o Explain why you deserve a certain grade. If you're an officer be sure to mention how you helped the team progress in your role.
o Note where evidence of your work can be found (Work& Accomplishments? Certain files/emails? Reflections?)
2. Individual Documentation (OneNote Notebook) - Responsibility: each individual team member:
This is evidence of your weekly contributions.
* Make sure all your work is referenced in your notebook (up to & including week 7!)
* Make sure that the work & accomplishments section provides evidence of your efforts! Is there enough detail so that someone could recreate your work/strategy?
* Make sure that your weekly reflections are up to date and relate (1) your work in class to (2) a bigger picture, and (3) future application outside of class.
o More information on how to write good reflection can be found here: https://engineering.purdue.edu/EPICS/purdue/individual-documents/reflections
(Your reflection section of your notebook contains the same instructions)
3. Peer Evaluations (CATME) - Responsibility: each individual team member
* To be completed in CATME. Check your Purdue email inbox for an invitation to the CATME evaluation.
* Alternatively, login with your Purdue email and password on https://www.catme.org/login/<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.catme…>. Please let me know if you are having trouble accessing CATME.
* Mark the activity as completed on Brightspace once you have completed the peer review.
* Please rank and comment on individuals you have worked with within your project.
* Please give constructive comments (positive notes and suggestions for improvement) on individuals you have worked with.
Please reach out to me if you have any questions.
Happy Falls Break!
Thanks,
Kaustubh (TA)
