IMPORTANT! Fire Alarm System Issue

NOTE: The fire alarm strobe lights and alarm tones/voices on the west end of the building, first floor, are currently not functional. Fire Equipment Services are working to correct the problem. In the mean time, please be alert for alarms elsewhere in the building and follow the instructions given. The toxic gas monitoring system is fully functional. The alarm tones and lights in the west end of the first floor are not functioning. Pull stations and smoke detectors on the first floor in the west end of the building are also not functioning. In an emergency, please use a pull station in other portions of the building or call 911. John Weaver John R. Work on Fire Alarm System Thursday 4 Dec 08

Fire Equipment Services are working on the fire alarm system this morning, Thursday 4 December 2008. This MAY cause a false alarm. There will be an announcement to disregard the alarm given over the fire-paging system prior to the reboot, then a second announcement to once again heed all alarms. This should take place shortly after 8:30 am today (Thursday). During the time between these announcements, please DO NOT EVACUATE the facility. Thank you for understanding, John John R. Fire Alarm System Mostly Functional

NOTICE: The work has been completed for today on the fire alarm system in Birck Nanotechnology Center. All systems are functional except the audio announcement in the first floor west wing. All strobes and sensors are working properly. Please heed any alarms that may sound. Final work to restore full functionality of the system should take place tomorrow (Friday). Due to a problem with the fire panel in BNC, the system will need to be rebooted. This MAY cause a false alarm.
