PCGFS STUDENT INNOVATION GRANTS The Purdue Center for Global Food Security (PCGFS) is now taking applications for our 2015 Student Innovation Grant program for undergraduate students. The PCGFS Student Innovation Grants support undergraduate students in any academic discipline working in teams to develop a technology or program that may render creative solutions to a vexing food security problem for stressed communities in a developing country or for programs that support food insecure communities within the state of Indiana. Two grants of $10,000 each for international projects and two grants of $3,000 each for local projects will be awarded. To carry innovations forward, students must commit to entering their projects in subsequent national or international innovation grant competitions. Tomorrow the focus is on the Development Innovation Ventures Grant opportunity from the USAID GDL http://www.usaid.gov/div/apply for which we have been talking with with USAID about. I2D-list I2D Labs meeting to discuss innovation and funding opportunities in intl development

Dear engineering faculty interested in international development, Based on interest for I2D Lab seed grant competition and faculty feedback we would like to start a series of meetings to pass out information on, discuss, and plan for funding and collaboration opportunities in R and D related to international development. We are planning to have 4 meetings this semester as follows: Thursday, March 5, 12:00-1:00pm, WANG 2501 – To discuss Development Innovation Ventures (DIV) Grant program of the USAID Global Development Lab (GDL) (no deadlines, applications accepted any time) http://www.usaid.gov/div ; we have discussed this opportunity with the USAID program manager and can share some recommendations. Thursday, March 12, 12:00-1:00pm, MRGN 206 – Opportunities with the Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship Wednesday, April 1, 12:00-1:00pm, WANG 2501 – Follow-up from the I2D Lab Exposition (please see attached the latest draft agenda) Monday, April 13, 12:00-1:00pm, MRGN 206 – USAID-GDL Grand Challenge Grant competition http://www.usaid.gov/grandchallenges If you are unable to attend any of these sessions and are interested in learning more about the specific opportunity, please let us know and we will set up a meeting to meet with you. We expect to continue this meeting series in the fall in a biweekly format with regularly scheduled talks by faculty active in the area and discussions on funding opportunities.
