FW: Change to Armstrong Hall Building Hours 8/31/22

Hi MSE students and researchers, Due to some safety concerns expressed by the College of Engineering, COE buildings are slowly transitioning from 24hr access to 6am-11pm access. ARMS will be starting this schedule next Wednesday. Approved students are able to use the card swipe on the atrium to access the building after hours. COE left the definition of "approved students" up to the departments/lab admins so I gave all MSE students and post-docs card access. If you are someone who frequently is in ARMS at night, please double check that you are able to swipe into the atrium. Please also remember not to swipe strangers into the building at night. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns and be sure to watch out for other emails regarding the transition of other COE buildings that you may work in. Access to the atrium space will be limited to invitees only. The second and third floor bridges will remain open, however, Purdue Police will have officers stationed on those floors to escort pedestrians to the other side. Orientation Week Social Events

Hey All, and a big welcome to the new cohort of MSE graduate students! We've got events lined up throughout the whole week to help kick off the semester. Here's a reminder of the schedule: Ice cream social, 8/15 @ 4pm: Meet on the north side of the engineering fountain at 4pm to enjoy some ice cream and catch up. This is a great chance to meet the new class or reconnect with colleagues and faculty who you haven’t seen over the summer. Trivia at The Tap, 8/16 @ 8pm: The Tap in Chauncey Village hosts weekly trivia games featuring everything from world history to 90’s TV. Join the MSE team to enjoy some bar snacks and shoot for 1st place. Sand Volleyball, 8/17 @ 7pm: Come challenge our infamous intramural team! Meet at the courts between the TREC and CoREC. Free parking is available near the track (red star on the map) and the courts are at the blue star.
