Hi Everyone! NSAC will host Fab Forum | Office Hour with BNC staff this Tuesday 2-3pm again. Last week, including Dr. Wirth, we have around nine staff on board to help tackle the lab related questions. Come and join us, if you would like to discuss about your fabrication, experiment or get tips in using BNC equipment. Hi Everyone! This week for NSAC | Coffee Hour Special Series, our interviewee is BNC distinguished Professor- Prof. Vladimir Shalaev, Robert and Anne Burnett Distinguished ECE Professor and Scientific Director for Nanophotonics at BNC. Prof. Shalaev has received several awards and recognition for his research in the fields of nanophotonics and metamaterials. He is also one of the highest cited researchers from the Web of Science Group. Join us this Friday afternoon as Prof. Shalaev shares his academic journey and some success tips in research with us. [Mentoring_at_Purdue] M@P Invited Lecture Series - Next Wednesday, March 10!

Mark your calendars and join us next Wednesday, March 10, at 12:00pm (EST) on Zoom for our 9th Annual Invited Lecture Series We are pleased to introduce Dr. Stephani Page and her lecture, Mentoring Beyond Hierarchies: Applying Intersectionality, Inclusion, & Intentionality as Frameworks! Dr. Page will outline an equity framework, various mentoring models, and discuss case-studies showing the value of various frameworks and models. This presentation includes work Dr. Page co-authored with Dr. Beronda Montgomery for the NASEM report on mentoring in STEMM. Please join us for her lecture on mentoring beyond hierarchies. This free virtual lecture series is also open to anyone outside of the Purdue Community. Immediately following Dr. Page's keynote lecture, she will be engaging graduate students in a graduate student chat from 1:00-1:30 p.m. You don't want to miss out! Stephani Page, PhD is a STEM equity and community engagement professional who has over 15 years of biological and biomedical academic research experience. She earned her doctorate in Biochemistry and Biophysics from the School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Page is a proud graduate of North Carolina A&T State University with a bachelors and master's in Chemical Engineering and Biology, respectively. In 2014, Dr. Page earned the highest honor awarded to a graduate student in her PhD department, Diane Harris Leadership Award for Exemplary Research, Education, and Public Service. She has been recognized as a researcher by the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, the Biophysical Society, and the American Heart Association. Throughout her career as a scientist, Dr. Page has been committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the academy and STEM. She is the creator of the #BLACKandSTEM community which has a social media following of nearly 17,000 individuals and organizations. Over the years, she has contributed to several major efforts to improve the scientific workforce and education through experiences such as serving on the NIH’s working group for the Next Generation Researchers Initiative and contributing a commissioned paper for the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s (NASEM) report on Mentoring in STEMM (the additional ‘M’ stands for medicine). In her current role, she leads communications and community engagement for the ADVANCE Resource and Coordination (ARC) Network, an NSF-ADVANCE funded STEM equity brain trust. Hi Everyone! During our last Fab Forum- a virtual BNC Tour, many of you had interesting questions related to Birck, Cleanroom, and Fabrication. Some were answered, some were not due to time constraints. Now is the right time to keep those questions coming. This week NSAC brings Fab Forum | Office Hour with BNC staff- Dr. Justin Wirth. Dr. Wirth will help BNC members with general questions related to Birck, cleanroom access and usage, fabrication, processes or any specific tool(s). Drop-in and get your queries answered during the office hour tomorrow at 1:00 PM EST. Every week, one of the BNC staffs will hold office hour to answer research related queries in their area of expertise in-and-outside cleanroom.
