Having a mentee who is passionate about social justice can catch even the most effective mentor off guard. To what extent should you direct a student’s energy or funnel their interest? What if you are passionate about an issue that isn’t your mentor’s expertise? How can you motivate your peers to take a more active role in enhancing the community?
