Dear EMBRIOnic People:
A reminder that we won't meet today, or the the rest of July for Weekly Updates. Everyone enjoy a fun July 4th Independence Day, tomorrow.
Retreat Reminders: July 13-14
EMBRIO’s All-Hands Annual Retreat is less than two weeks away! A draft schedule<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fapp.box.c…> is available. The Retreat will be hosted again this year in the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, in Martin Jischke Hall of Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University (MJIS Location Map<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgoo.gl%2F…>) .
As previously requested, biology thrusts 1, 2, and 3 Leads are coordinating integrated presentations with collaborators. One-hour dedicated sessions are planned for each thrust. Each biology thrust leader: please plan on a 25 min presentation with your collaborators, and 5 min for Q&A.
We will feature trainee research during a dedicated poster session the afternoon of Day 1. Trainees and others presenting posters: if you have not already done so, please email me today July 3rd (laddb(a)purdue.edu<mailto:laddb@purdue.edu>) an abstract of your poster that includes a citation at the top with all authors (last names, first initial) and affiliations. Access the EMBRIO poster template<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fapp.box.c…>. Work with your PI and department to print your poster in a 36”H x 48”W format. We'll use magnetic poster boards, w/ magnets provided.
Purdue faculty mentors of SURF EMBRIO REU students: I've reached out to the students and CC'd you about them presenting a poster, or a 5 min lightning talk - whichever aligns with what they’ve chosen for their SURF symposium.
Members at our Partner Institutions: Those who have RSVP’d we have reserved a hotel room for the nights you requested at The Hampton Inn<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.hilto…>, just down the hill from Purdue campus (hotel location map<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgoo.gl%2F…>). You don’t need to call to reserve. Your room will be available when you check in on Wednesday afternoon July 12th. Check-in is at 3pm and check-out at 11am.
Parking will be available in the Discovery Lot<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgoo.gl%2F…> just southwest of Martin Jischke Hall of Biomedical Engineering. For non-Purdue employees please let me know if you require a parking pass.
We are looking forward to having everyone together for this second annual summer retreat!!
