Attention Master Chefs | New event coming update: Flavors of Lafayette

Hi Everyone! ECEGSA, in collaboration with AeroAssit, BMEGSA, CEGSA, ChE GSO, ECESS, HKN, IEGSA, NSAC, PGSA and TBP, is organizing a recipe book exchange themed event- Flavors of Lafayette: One Community, Many Cuisines. The event is sponsored by the One Community Grant aimed at bringing together people from diverse cultures across Purdue Campus and Greater Lafayette Community through one common thread- Food. We are encouraging master chefs, closeted chefs, or chefs of all background to share a recipe that holds a special place in their culture. So that when a person from the other side of the globe tries their recipe, they do not just experience the taste of the new culture, but also relate to it, feel the same emotion connect that millions of others do when they try that recipe. We aim to promote a culture connect through Food. These recipes will be compiled into a cookbook and hard copies of the same will be distributed to those who are interested, on Purdue Campus along with a Diversity Snack Bag (featuring snacks from all around the world)!. Electronic copy of the recipe book will also be made available. If you are interested in sharing a recipe with the Purdue/West Lafayette/ Greater Lafayette community, please fill out the survey form below. We will contact you with the link to share the actual recipe with supported graphics. Prof. Das obtained his PhD from Purdue University in 2013, and is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Engineering Sciences and Mechanics at Pennsylvania State University. Prof. Das has been honored with the 2020-21 Rustum and Della Roy Innovation in Materials Research Award, Penn State University, and the Young Investigator Award, Air Force Office of Scientific Research, Feb 2017-Jan 2020. Join the office hour to get help with questions related to cleanroom, fabrication, tools, processes, other Birck labs and any general questions related to BNC. Every week, one of the BNC staff will hold office hour to answer research related queries in their area of expertise in-and-outside cleanroom. NSAC | Coffee Hour Interview Series with BNC Alumni Professor- Prof. Aaron Franklin

Hi Everyone! This week for NSAC | Coffee Hour Special Series, our interviewee is BNC Alumni Professor- Prof. Aaron Franklin. Prof. Franklin received his PhD from Purdue University in 2008, completed a direct-PhD in just 3.5 years despite the challenges of transitioning lab equipment during the founding years of Birck. Prof. Franklin was one of the members of NSAC and has served as a docent (tour guide) for first few weeks after BNC's opening. Currently, Prof. Franklin is Addy Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering & Professor of Chemistry at Duke University, with over 90 peer-reviewed papers and more than 50 patents under his belt. Dear Students and Research Scholars, We, from SIAM@Purdue,are organizing a series of research talks on Neuro-inspired Technology and Quantum Future with AI and Society in the next 4 months. In a world where mental health and wellness is increasingly requiring to seek urgent attention to raise awareness for academic, government and industrial policy making for a safer, smarter, happier and economically stable world, the time has come to look deeper into different inter-connected research fields from unobvious angles with an international and culturally diverse perspective. Starting from this coming Monday, March 29, 2021 we are hosting a series of talks in tune with this theme. The Opening Talk will address issues in optimizing decision making while facing dilemma for choosing between Breadth And Depth of topics and how Computational Neuroscientists address such problems. Apart from usual Computer Science, AI, Management Science and Psychology folks researching in behavioral modelling and decision making, these talk is going to be enlightening for any student interested in understanding how to optimize their workflow .
