Hello All, Thanks for everyone who attended the meeting! A few general notes: First, we are switching project team e-mail accounts to a Purdue list_serve. YOU WILL STOP RECEIVING PROJECT TEAM E-MAILS IF YOU DO NOT SUBSCRIBE BELOW. https://engineering.purdue.edu/ECN/mailman/listinfo/ewb-uganda Second, we are doing more research on biogas digesters. If you want to help improve your understanding of the project, see me at the Anthropology and Engineering workshop (Wednesday (30th) Hicks basement 5:30 - 8:30) or e-mail me directly (frank7(a)purdue.edu) Going forward, we will have three main focus groups: engineering/digester, anthropology/assessment questions, logistics/documentation. We are always looking for more members, so just let us know how you want to be involved and we will find you a role. As of now, meeting times are Tuesdays at 8:0 pm (location is subject to change). Hi EWBers, There will be NO general meeting this week, because the 2nd *Engineering and Anthropology Workshop* takes place on *Wednesday, Oct. 30* from *5:30-8:30pm in Hicks G980D.* The topic will be "*Learning About Your Community: Investigating Assets and Needs*." This topic is incredibly important to our club as we move forward with the Uganda project, and everyone is highly encouraged to attend. Elections will be two weeks from this Wednesday, on *Nov. 13*. Open positions include President, Vice President, Secretary, and Communications Manager. These positions begin next semester and last a year, through next fall semester. If you would like to run, please send a quick email to Dalan at dtalsma(a)purdue.edu saying your name and the position you'd like to run for. If you cannot make the meeting on Nov. 13, you can include in your email a brief speech about yourself for a board member to read on your behalf. If you have questions about any of the positions, feel free to email the respective board member below! Hello Project Team, We are ready to start work on document preparation. This is a long e-mail, but details all steps in the process. We are organizing all information in a common dropbox folder. Please go to www.dropbox.com and use the EWB login E-mail: ewbpurdue7(a)gmail.com Password: engineers2010 Background documents on the project can be found on the main screen of the folder. "501" and "803" are good background to the project. The actual template and sections for 521 are in "521-Template." All information about 600 and its attachments are in 'HASP' folder. The bulk of 600 is in "600-Health." Next, please sign up for a document section to complete. Hey Everyone! Thanks to everyone who came and helped out with Shack-a-thon! I was only able to be there until 2:20, so sorry if I missed any of you. We ended up building a pretty awesome Shack and I am very proud of our club! Just a note, before you sign up for an event, be sure that you can attend at that time. If you guys forgot, its fine, but I will try to send out emails the day before rather than a few days before. This is important because I just want to make sure that all the time slots have someone there, and if not, I will work to fill it. if you find out you can not make I would appreciate if you would email me. Thank you to all of you who did. For those of you interested in joining the EWB Events and Fundraising board, we will be having a short meeting at 6:30 tomorrow in ME 2061 right before the general meeting. You are allowed to be a part of multiple committees, so do not give up the chance to influence the events and activities EWB is a part of in Lafayette. If you are unable to make the meeting, but are still interested in being a part of the committee, please email me with your name and I will get you on the Events/Fundraising emailing list. I look forward to the chance of working with you all and hearing all your good ideas. On another note, the haunted corn maze trip is coming up this saturday at 7 pm. I am going to have a sign-up sheet at the EWB general meeting. Actually, All, this is a workshop offered JOINTLY by the Global Engineering Program and Professor Nolan's colleagues in Anthropology. I second Chrissy's recommendation - this series of three workshops (all jointly planned by GEP and Anthropology) is a VERY important opportunity for each of you to gain important experience and knowledge as Engineers. We hope to see as many as possible of you there!! This workshop, run by Prof. Nolan, is titled "Choosing a Community to Work In," and will be in HICKS G980D from 5:30-8:30pm tomorrow, Oct. 10. Although the title may sound less relevant to the current stage of our project in Uganda, we guarantee you will learn a lot by attending. The next two workshops in the series will be Oct. 30 and Nov. 19, and it is highly recommended to attend all three.
