Scheduled for April 5th, 2025, on the Purdue campus, AES is a full-day conference designed to provide engineering students with insights into the aerospace community through engaging sessions, panels, workshops, and interactive activities. Traditionally focused on encouraging women's presence in the field, this year's AES has an exciting twist; the event is open to all students! We aim to bridge the connection between the past, present and future of the aerospace industry through this year's theme, "Launch, Lead, Legacy." We will be exploring ways in which students can launch their careers in aerospace, lead with pioneering ideas and solutions, and carry forward the legacy of Boilermakers in aerospace excellence. To make this summit truly impactful, we have assembled panels of speakers representing organizations such as NASA, Boeing and Blue Origin who can share their experiences and expertise. The summit will feature the following panels: * Panel 1: Women in Aerospace - Breaking Barriers and Building Legacies in the field of Astronautics * Panel 2: Diversity in the Skies - Promoting Inclusion in Aerospace Engineering * Panel 3: Legacy of Amelia Earhart - Inspiring the Next Generation of Aviators Lunch will be provided and a reception for all attendees will be held at the conclusion of the event. The summit will run from 8:00 AM EDT through 4:30 PM EDT and the reception will be held from 5:00 PM EDT to 6:30 PM EDT. Welcome back to campus! We hope you found time to relax and recharge over spring break. We have 6 weeks of class remaining followed by finals...and then...summer break! As you prepare to take on the challenges of the final weeks of the school year, we encourage you to focus on your wellness. Remember that taking care of yourself not only makes you feel better physically and emotionally, but also enhances your academic success! Each week from now through finals we will suggest a weekly well-being activity. We encourage you to engage in that activity 2 - 3 times per week for a period of 30 minutes and reflect on how you feel following the activity. Week 1 - March 23 - March 29, 2025 Creative Expression - Engage in a creative activity like coloring, drawing, painting, writing, or playing music to relieve stress and release pent up emotions. Have you heard about the practice of mindfulness? Mindfulness is the act of living in the present moment and being aware of exactly what is going on around you, without any judgment. The key to embodying mindfulness is to turn into a keen observer. Engaging your five primary senses can help you take in the world around you. Practicing mindfulness is a fantastic way to slow down, reduce stress, and ground yourself. Engaging your senses is a mindfulness activity that you can do most anywhere: First, take a few deep cleansing breaths. Then engage your senses by noting 5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste. Take time to do this activity. Do not rush! This is a brain aligned attention focused practice, meaning that by mindfully focusing on your senses, your brain moves away from thoughts of stress, and your central nervous system begins to relax, leaving you with a sense of calm.
