To the Faculty and Staff of the Lyles School of Civil and ConstructionEngineering: I am writing to solicit nominations for the Sprign 2025 CCE Graduate Student Engagement Award. This award was previously named the Outstanding Grad Student Award, but we have adjusted the title to reflect the "service" intent of the award. All CCE Engineering MSCE and PhD students graduating in Spring 2025 are eligible for this award, list is at the bottom of this message. The CCE Graduate Student Engagement Award is selected according to the following criteria (listed in order of importance): . Service to Purdue (to the College of Engineering or the university as a whole) . Service to Community (volunteer work, community projects, etc.) . Service Character (willingness to serve, positive attitude, helpful and enjoyable) . Organizational Involvement (student organizations and clubs, honor societies and organizations, departmental organizations, etc.) . Technical Achievements (patents, publications, research work, technical awards, coops/ internships, etc.) . Academic Achievements (honors, awards, teaching assistant, etc.) Please take the time to nominate a student who you believe is deserving of this award, reflecting the students service activities, by sending an e-mail to me. Please include a nomination letter, the student's resume and Purdue transcripts (as one pdf). If you have questions about potential nominees please feel free to contact me. The deadline for nominations is 8:00 am March 31, 2025. We will accept one nomination per faculty/staff person. Greetings, CCE faculty and staff! On behalf of the CCE Staff Awards Committee, I am writing to request nominations for both the CCE Outstanding Staff Award and the Mary Ann Zimmerman Purdue Civil Engineering Innovation Award. Nominations are due to Julie Jesiek (jjesiek(a)purdue.edu<mailto:jjesiek@purdue.edu>) on November 8, 2024 by the end of the day. More information is provided below. CCE Outstanding Staff Award The purpose of this award is to recognize, encourage, and promote outstanding Staff in the Lyles School of Civil and Construction Engineering. The award is open to all administrative, professional, and clerical staff in the Lyles School of Civil and Construction Engineering with at least a half-time appointment and at least three years of continuous service to the School. The award may not be given to the same individual more than once in a three-year period. The nominee must be an employee of the Lyles School of Civil and Construction Engineering at the time of nomination. The awardee is expected to remain an employee of LSCCE until presentation of the award at the annual ceremony except for special cases such as retirement. All full-time faculty, staff and students are eligible. The award includes $1000 to be used for the innovative activity for which the award was given. It also codifies into law that faculty governance bodies are to be "advisory." While this has always been true of the Purdue University Senate, it is unclear how this language affects the Senate's oversight of educational policy which is specified in our bylaws.
