To the Faculty and Staff of the Lyles School of Civil and ConstructionEngineering: I am writing to solicit nominations for the Sprign 2025 CCE Graduate Student Engagement Award. This award was previously named the Outstanding Grad Student Award, but we have adjusted the title to reflect the "service" intent of the award. All CCE Engineering MSCE and PhD students graduating in Spring 2025 are eligible for this award, list is at the bottom of this message. The CCE Graduate Student Engagement Award is selected according to the following criteria (listed in order of importance): . Service to Purdue (to the College of Engineering or the university as a whole) . Service to Community (volunteer work, community projects, etc.) . Service Character (willingness to serve, positive attitude, helpful and enjoyable) . Organizational Involvement (student organizations and clubs, honor societies and organizations, departmental organizations, etc.) . Technical Achievements (patents, publications, research work, technical awards, coops/ internships, etc.) . Academic Achievements (honors, awards, teaching assistant, etc.) Please take the time to nominate a student who you believe is deserving of this award, reflecting the students service activities, by sending an e-mail to me. Please include a nomination letter, the student's resume and Purdue transcripts (as one pdf). If you have questions about potential nominees please feel free to contact me. The deadline for nominations is 8:00 am March 31, 2025. We will accept one nomination per faculty/staff person. Kumares Retirement

All: After over 50 years at Purdue, Kumares Sinha will be retiring at the end of this year. We are planning for a brief celebration from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025, to celebrate his retirement. Please save the date. More details to come later. [Cce-all-list] Prof GS Govindaraju’s appointment for VP at Discovery Park

Lyles School Faculty and Staff, As you have undoubtedly seen in the news, Dr. Rao S. Govindaraju has been selected to serve as the next Vice President for Institutes and Centers at Discovery Park District at Purdue. His position will be effective January 12, 2026. This promotion is richly deserved, and GS will bring his great people, budget, and fundraising management skills to the position. Please join me in congratulating GS in his next service role at Purdue! GS leaves a strong legacy at the Lyles School. Since he started as the Bowen Engineering Head of Civil Engineering in 2012 student scholarship support increased to nearly $2 million annually, with additional support for leadership activities and graduate programs. This period also saw the naming of the Lyles School and the Burke Graduate Program, and the merger of the School with the Construction Engineering Management division to create the Lyles School of Civil and Construction Engineering. The School launched an online MS program, a professional MS program, and two new Professional MS programs were recently approved for implementation through Indianapolis. Faculty support increased to twenty Named Professorships and two Scholars of Excellence in the School. New and repurposed facilities added to the School’s infrastructure to support the discovery, learning and engagement missions of the University. In the coming weeks I will announce the transition plans followed by a new national search for the next Bowen Head of the Lyles School of Civil and Construction Engineering.
