*LORRE January Safety Issue #2* 1/29/2014 ** To All: As you know, the ventilation replacement program has started on the second floor of Potter. They will be moving to the middle labs soon, and so we need help preparing for this as soon as possible. _Detailed Tasks_: 1.Refrigerator and Freezer Cleaning: a.All chemicals, enzymes, samples, solutions, etc. need to be safely transferred out of the lab #254 fridge and the lab #256 freezer. If you have something important in there, please let us know. b.There are some expired chemicals or waste material in the fridge, we need to fill out a form for REM pickup. c.Once the fridges and freezers are clear, we need to attach a clean label to them so it shows they are okay to be moved 2.Glassware Safety: In labs # 231, 233/252, 235, 254, 256, 237, all beakers, flasks, tubes, bottles, etc. have to be placed inside cabinets or safely moved out of the lab. Don't leave anything on the shelves, lab benches, or on top of cabinets. We want to do this to avoid unnecessarily damaging any glassware. 3.Some equipment will need to be moved out of these labs (Water bath, incubator, Klett Colorimeter) for ongoing experiments. 4.Once lab #236 is finished with the replacement, we need to clean the Lab. and help Dr. Cunha set up her experiments again. Because we are in a time-crunch, we need your help in clearing the labs and preparing for the ventilation replacement. If you have any questions, please ask Drs. Engelberth or Mosier. Thanks for your help, The LORRE Safety Committee
