However, recently we have had some confusion on how to label hazardous waste containers. Please review the biological waste handling and disposal procedures. These can be found on the REM website: Handling and Disposal Guidelines <https://www.purdue.edu/ehps/rem/home/booklets/sharps.pdf> Sharps and Infectious Waste: <https://www.purdue.edu/ehps/rem/home/booklets/sharps.pdf> Bio-Materials Treatment and <https://www.purdue.edu/ehps/rem/home/form.htm#BMPU>Certification Form <https://www.purdue.edu/ehps/rem/home/form.htm#BMPU> Hazardous Materials <https://www.purdue.edu/ehps/rem/home/form.htm#hmm>Pickup Request Form <https://www.purdue.edu/ehps/rem/home/form.htm#hmm>. Do not use acronyms or abbreviations. ·Make sure the contents (amount of waste) adds up to 100% ·List all chemical names in the waste mixture Biological Waste All biological agents and biological waste should be treated first. Safely transfer correctly-labeled biological waste to the autoclave. Carefully pack the waste box after sterilization and submit the Hazardous Materials Pick up Request Form for REM to pick up.
