September LORRE safety issue (9/1/2016) To All: This coming year, safety in our lab continues to be of utmost importance. We want to prevent any potentially dangerous events; it is important that all follow safety procedures. We continue our efforts daily to provide a safe environment for study and research. *1) 1**)****New Safety Committee Member***** Amanda is the newest member of the LORRE safety committee. She is very familiar with the program and has participated in past lab safety activities. She is careful, helpful, responsible, and will be an effective member of the committee. *2) 2) Safety Retraining* We encourage retraining through the Purdue REM webpage. It is an excellent source for safety information.__ *Hazard Communication (HazCom/Right-to-Know) Online Training* <https://www.purdue.edu/ehps/rem/ih/hazcom.htm#hct>** Safety retraining is an important step towards clear understanding of safety policy and responsibility *3) 3) Centrifuge Safety.* Recently, we replaced the JS-5.3 rotor adapter components. Please: don't take out the swinging bucket tube adapter from the rotor. If absolutely necessary, be extremely gentle. This product breaks easily, and the parts are extraordinarily expensive. Please fill out the record log when using the centrifuge. Thank you, LORRE Safety Committee
