*LORRE October Safety Issue* 10/31/2017 To All, We got a new Biological Safety Cabinet (BSC) A2 in room #335. It is an enclosed, ventilated laboratory workspace for safely working with materials contaminated with pathogens (or materials potentially contaminated with pathogens). We put the instructions above the hood door. Another lamina flow work station LFCB in room 237A has been repaired well and can be used now. *Raymond Red Corn*fixed two pipet holders in the second floor lab and *James M. Muskat* set up the new vise in room #333, which is convenient for everyone. As a friendly reminder, if you use pretreatment metal tubes, make sure to clean them and that top and bottom covers with matching numbers are back on the same tube. After you finish, bring the tubes back to room #333 so that others can use them. We currently have five broken refrigerators, and many samples and waste materials needing treatment. To *Casey Bomrad, Joey Krampen, Ha Rim Ku, James M Muskat,* and *Rachel Eaton,* we wanted to say thank you very much for helping cleaning out the refrigerators, washing the bottoms and insides of the refrigerators, autoclaving waste materials, and cleaning and organizing glassware and containers. We also wanted to say thank you to *Peter Vozka* for taking the time to clean and organize room #359 and *Pablo* *Vega* for cleaning and organizing room #336. Since my lab has so many people working in limited space, we appreciate when people take the time to clean up after themselves and others. With a clean workspace, everyone gets to work in a safe environment. Thanks, LORRE Safety Committee **
