Slack Link: https://gsosymposium.slack.com/ Slack will be the main tool we will be using to field questions on the 20-minute student research seminars. When asking questions to presenters on Slack, please begin the question with @Presenter_Name in the appropriate Slack channel (student_research_seminars_session_a or student_research_seminars_session_b). Proctors will ask the presenter any questions that have been posted on Slack. Presenters can then answer any questions that were not fielded during the presentation on Slack at a later time. Pre-recorded research poster pitches are also located on Slack. You will be able to find information about both the student research seminars and the research poster pitches in the attached "Abstract Book". Student Seminar Presentations: The symposium has three main events. Senior PhD students will be giving twenty minute seminar presentations from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM EST. There will be two sessions of talks (Session A and Session B) ongoing simultaneously on two WebEx channels, and the sessions will be based on research area. The attached file titled "Speaker Schedule" shows the list of talks and which session they will be in. A "WebEx Guide" is attached to this email and explains the WebEx Interface. We have also attached a "Resume Book" containing resumes from any student seminar speakers who are currently looking for jobs. The attached "Abstract Book" contains abstracts and references for all student seminar presentations. From 12:45 PM to 2:30 PM EST poster pitch presenters will be available in their WebEx room to answer any questions in-person. If you would rather ask a question in text, you can hover over the presenter's post on Slack and click on "Reply in thread" on the top right corner of the post. Keynote Address: This year's keynote address will take place from 3:15 PM to 4:15 PM EST and will be given by Dr. Upma Sharma. Dr. Sharma is a Purdue alum and she is the president and CEO of Arsenal Medical, a platform technology company developing novel, therapeutic in-situ forming materials.
