This analysis is based on information from the virtual BER Advisory Committee (BERAC) meeting on April 19-20, 2023, the FY 2024 President's Budget Request, and discussions with DOE program managers. BER plans to prioritize many Office of Science cross-cutting initiatives including: the continuation of the Energy Earthshot Research Centers, especially in support of the Carbon Negative Technologies and Industrial Heat Earthshots; BER's contribution to the Funding for Accelerated, Inclusive Research (FAIR) initiative and Reaching a New Energy Sciences Workforce (RENEW); expanding the number of Climate Resilience Centers affiliated with HBCUs and MSIs; and supporting the Biden Administration's efforts for advancing biotechnology and biomanufacturing.
