I just wanted to let you know that the Purdue Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) and the Civil Engineering Student Advisory Council (CESAC) are hosting a presentation by Professor Irfanoglu titled "Deconstructing the 2010 Haiti Disaster: What Happened, Why the Disaster, and Lessons Learned." Dr. Irfanoglu traveled to Haiti shortly after the January 12th Haitian earthquake as part of a Purdue research team to survey the structural damage. The researchers, funded in part by NSF and by NEES, presented their findings earlier this month to officials from the National Science Foundation's Rapid Response Research program. The presentation will take place on Monday, November 1st from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM in CIVL 1144. All interested students and faculty are invited to attend. Free food and beverages will be provided.
