Dear Colleagues, I wanted to add a few words to David's message below. Ever since he joined our School as Senior Director of Development (DoD) in August 2013, David Williams has served our Development programs in an admirable way in all regards. He brought a unique perspective to Development and is uniformly admired by our School's alumni. In fact, I hear regularly from our alumni (from the Forneys to recent graduates) about his personal and effective approach with them - quick and efficient follow-ups, and always with a smile and can-do service attitude. David's commitment to his word is evident from the fact that when he joined our School, he and I had a verbal agreement that he'll stay for at least 3 years with ChE. He's kept his word and delayed his promotion as the Director of Advancement for the College of Liberal Arts until August 1, 2016 - full 3 years after joining us and the date when I'll leave my current position as School Head. Believe me, I know from long experience that such deep commitment to one's word is uncommon. On behalf of our School, I thank David Williams for the outstanding job he's done as our School's Senior Director of Development. We look forward to several more months of his association with us. On our behalf, I wish David the very best for the future. Arvind Arvind Varma R. We have agreed to delay his start in order to fulfill a commitment he made to remain with the School of Chemical Engineering through July 31, 2016, when Arvind Varma will step down as Jay and Cynthia Ihlenfeld Head of Chemical Engineering. David has been Senior Director of Development for the School of Chemical Engineering since August 2013 when he returned to Purdue after a brief stint as Senior Major Gift Officer for the Riley Children's Foundation in Indianapolis. David first came to Purdue in September 2004 as UDO Communications Coordinator for what was then Purdue Marketing Communications. He then joined the University Development Office as Associate Director of Planned Giving in January 2006 and served the College of Engineering Dean's Office as Director of Development and then Director of Advancement from January 2009 to April 2013. We appreciate David's commitment to ChE and will be slowly transitioning until August 1 with questions about Liberal Arts to be referred to me until that time.
