Dear Civil and Construction Engineering Faculty and Staff, I am delighted to inform you that Ayman Habib, the Thomas A. Page Professor of Civil Engineering has accepted our offer to serve as the interim Head of the Lyles School effective December 15, 2025. Professor Rao Govindaraju (GS) will continue to serve as the Bowen Head of the School until that time, and to help Ayman during the transition period. Prior to joining Purdue in 2014, he was Head of the Department of Geomatics Engineering at the University of Calgary in Canada. His research spans the development, integration, and deployment of mobile mapping systems onboard crewed and uncrewed aerial platforms as well as terrestrial vehicles. These technologies have been applied to a wide range of domains, including transportation asset management, coastal monitoring, precision agriculture, public safety, digital forestry, non-destructive archaeology, and bulk-material volume assessment. He is also a Fellow of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS), recognized for his impactful contributions to the mapping sciences. Please join me in thanking GS for his impactful leadership of the Lyle School for over 12 years and to Ayman for taking on this temporary, but very important service role to ensure a smooth period of transition. We will announce plans for the national search for the next Bowen Head of the Lyles School in the coming weeks.
