Dear all, The next Future BNC Meeting will be this Thursday, 3/21 @ 12pm (lunch provided) in BRK 2001. Liang Pan<https://engineering.purdue.edu/ME/People/ptProfile?resource_id=80190>, Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering will present an overview of Plasmonic Nanofocusing for Scalable Nanomanufacturing for the first half then the remainder will be open for high-level discussion of collaboration opportunities that can lead to future center of excellence and/or also brainstorm about a shared vision for Birck. Plasmonic Nanofocusing for Scalable Nanomanufacturing Nanoscale optical energy focusing using plasmonic structures can circumvent the diffraction limit, which is useful for many applications, such as nanoscale imaging, absorption enhancement in solar energy, surface enhanced Raman scattering, a near-field transducer for heat-assisted magnetic recording, plasmonic nanolithography, and hybrid electronic-plasmonic chips. Many of these applications are featured by their nanoscale spatial field distribution and strong light-matter interaction. Here, we will give an overview of our recent progress in studies of plasmonic nanoscale focusing schemes to achieve high efficiencies and resolutions and their new uses in plasmonic optical nanolithography and plasmonic-enhanced electron nanolithography. In addition, we will also and briefly cover other related efforts and collaborations in nanoscale and microscale 3D fabrications. Below is the schedule of future BNC strategic thinking discussion meetings, please mark your calendars to attend if possible.
