DUE TO THE SNOW EMERGENCY, BNC IS CLOSED UNTIL 1:00 PM TODAY. The situation will be reassessed at that time. This means that NO HAZARDOUS WORK MAY BE DONE IN THE FACILITY. This includes any work at fume hoods. Hazardous gases will continue to be shut down. THE CLEANROOM IS CLOSED. You may NOT enter the cleanroom during the facility closure. Thank you for your understanding during this weather emergency. John John R. We initiated this action at 5:00 pm today, 4 February 2014. In nitrogen-conservation mode: All hazardous gases are shut down Equipment with high nitrogen usage are shut down – SEE CORAL FOR EQUIPMENT AVAILABILITY The nitrogen connection to Bindley Bioscience Center is shut down If we receive the proper nitrogen delivery this evening and the snow is such that we can continue to receive deliveries, we will bring the facility back to normal operation on Wednesday morning, 5 February 2014. If the impending snow storm impacts Purdue operations such that the university is shut down, if key staff cannot reach the facility, or if we do not receive adequate nitrogen, all hazardous-material operations will be discontinued and the cleanroom will be shut down. If that happens, further communication will be sent out. Nitrogen conservation mode is a precautionary measure to prevent the disaster that caused an extended shutdown of the facility. We will remain in this mode only as long as necessary to ensure the continued operation of critical systems in the facility. Thank you in advance for your understanding. John John R.
