This program supports proposals for collaborative research and education in the area of active nanostructures, nanosystems, and the long-term societal change associated with these innovations. For this competition, Purdue may submit two Nanoscale Interdisciplinary Research Teams (NIRT) proposals as lead organization, and two Nanoscale Exploratory Research (NER) proposals as lead organization, with a third NER allowed that addresses "Societal and Educational Issues Associated with Long-term Research Science and Engineering Advances."
