Dear Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, I would like to inform you that Tamara Kinzer-Ursem, Associate Professor and Associate Head of Academic Programs will be taking a new role in the College of Engineering as Associate Dean of Graduate and Professional Education on July 01, 2023. Associate Professor Vitaliy Rayz will assume the role of Associate Head for Academic Programs in the Weldon School on July 01, 2023. Tami's strategic vision was crucial for developing the roadmap for BME undergraduate curriculum redesign focused on increasing the competencies of our students and for the redesign of our PhD milestones focused on increasing student mentorship and scholarship. Although we will miss Tami's leadership of our broad set of programs, this change will provide her opportunity to apply her talents to strategic growth and support of graduate and professional programs across the College. Vitaliy is uniquely suited and well-prepared to assume this new leadership role and build upon the growth and programmatic strengths that have been founded here in the Weldon School. Over the past two years he has excelled as Director of Undergraduate Programs and Chair of our Undergraduate Committee in developing with faculty and staff members a shared, school-wide vision for updates to our undergraduate curriculum based on implementation of the depth-areas curriculum. Vitaliy has shown strategic leadership qualities required to navigate the upcoming merger with the BME department at IUPUI and build a fully integrated extension of the Weldon School of BME in Indianapolis. Vitaliy has shown dedication to research and teaching excellence required to take our education programs, both undergraduate and graduate, to new heights of distinction. Please join me in thanking Tami for her dedication and service and welcoming Vitaliy into his new role leading our academic programs into an exciting future for our School. David M.
