Dear MJIS Community, Recently, the Purdue University Fire Department was alerted to smoking/vaping activities, setting off sensor alarms multiple times inside MJIS. Today another incident of smoking/vaping activity was detected. Smoking is prohibited indoors and outdoors on the entire West Lafayette Campus, except in designated smoking areas. Obviously, cigarettes and smoking pose a fire hazard. Smoking can potentially affect our numerous ongoing animal studies as well. We will consider installing surveillance cameras ASAP. Accordingly, all disciplinary actions will be taken and any records of violations will be handled officially. Note: The university defines smoking as "Cigarettes, cigars, pipes, e-cigarettes or any other device used to burn tobacco or other like substances or to vape."
