Dear Weldon BME Community, I'm writing to share important news regarding leadership for our Biomedical Engineering programs in Indianapolis. Dr. Joey Wallace has served as the inaugural BME Site Director for Purdue in Indianapolis during this critical first year of establishing our BME presence in the state capital. Launching a new urban expansion is no small feat. It has required navigating new systems, building infrastructure, fostering a sense of community from the ground up, and ensuring that our values of academic excellence and inclusive engagement are reflected in every aspect of the program. We are deeply grateful for Joey's leadership during this foundational year and his commitment to setting a high bar for what Purdue BME in Indianapolis can become. As we move into the next phase, this role will evolve into Director for BME Programs in Indianapolis, reflecting both the maturity and growing complexity of our efforts. I'm pleased to announce that Dr. Steve Higbee has agreed to take on this important position. Reporting to the Head of the Weldon School, Dr. Higbee will work closely with the Associate Dean for Engineering in Indianapolis and the Weldon School's leadership team to ensure that the BME programs in Indianapolis continue to thrive. His responsibilities will include advancing research and educational collaborations, supporting student well-being and belonging, and helping us deliver an academic experience that is equal in quality, but uniquely complimentary to our programs in West Lafayette.
