Hello all, In July 2023, Andrew Brightman graciously agreed to serve as the Weldon Director of Graduate Programs when Tammy Kinzer-Ursem was recruited to the Dean's Office. We appreciate his experienced and steady leadership during this transition. As planned, Andrew now wishes to step down from this position. We are seeking nominations, including self-nominations, for a new Director of Graduate Programs. The main responsibilities include: * The Director of Grad Programs oversees all graduate programs of Weldon School, and works closely with the Associate Head for Academics, Grad Programs Staff. and other faculty committees related Graduate programs (admissions, IBSc, Grad Committee, DEI, etc.) to handle any issues related to graduate students and their progress through the programs, including issues and initiatives around recruitment, admission, mental health, advisor relations, academics, courses, etc. * The Director of Grad Programs is also the chair of the Graduate Committee that is responsible for creating, regulating, and revising all policy, procedures, and curricular concerns related to graduate programs. The committee meets monthly during the Academic Year. * Current initiatives underway include continuing to implement and evaluate and revise the recently updated PhD qualifying and preliminary exam policies and high quality training of doctoral students, developing and implementing new policies and procedures for improving the masters level training, and integrating programs across the two campuses with our BME faculty in Indianapolis.
